TOTTENHAM TIPPED FOR PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE

 

North London giants Tottenham Hotspur have been talked up as a potential title challenger in the Premier League this season. This is according to former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder Paul Merson.


Paul Merson has been impressed with Spurs during the eight-week-old Premier League season. While he was on Sky Sports for his punditry job, Merson tipped for the Premier League title as he showered praises on manager Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham Beat Burnley and Moves to 5th Position

 

Tottenham Hotspur has evolved as a surprising package in the English Premier League this season and has produced some surprising results. On Monday they have defeated Burnley due to the lone goal from Son Heung-min. This victory has helped them to move to the 5th position in the league table. The South Korean player Son Heung-min put the ball into the net as he found himself with no markers behind him. This is the third win of the team in their 6 matches of the English Premier League. The corner from Erick Lamela got a little flick from Harry Kane and then the nod of Son Heung-min helped the ball to find the net quickly.


Kane also saved his team just a minute ago as he cleared a strong header from James Tarkowski from the goal line. Though Burnley is not considered as one of the strongest teams of the league and they have secured only 1 point so far from their five games, still Tottenham had to stay cautious from them.

Pedro in discussions for free transfer in the summer

 

Spain footballer Pedro’s contract at Chelsea will be expiring when the current season ends. As per the reports of goal,he is ready to be transferred to Roma on a free transfer. The Italian club and Pedro had discussions regarding his future from April and as per the reports,the transfer is most likely to be done soon. Other than Roma, another Italian club Juventus have shown interest. Then there has been interest from Sevilla, Valencia and Real Betis.


Pedro was transferred from Barcelona in 2015 and, since his arrival, he has scored 43 goals from 201 appearances. In his stay here, he along with Chelsea won the FA Cup, Europa League, and a Premier League Cup to his collection of silverware. In Barcelona, he has won five La Liga titles and three Champions League.

Mourinho happy with the performance of Spurs against Arsenal

 

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that the win over Arsenal cane from their hearts. With the won against the North London rivals, they were able to maintain their chance to play in the Europa League. With the goalsfrom Heung min Son and Toby Alderweireld,they were able to maintain the lead and win the game. The club hasn’t been outside on the top four spots of Premier League since the 2014–2015 season and it seems like they will be missing out their Champions League this season. In the previous season of Champions League, they finished up as the runners up next to the champions Liverpool.

With the victory over Gunners, they have lifted up their spirits as they have kept their European dreams alive. Mourinho has praised the team on scoring the points whichare vital to the club with only a few games left to play.

Osimhen unlikely to make Tottenham switch, confirms agent

 

Victor Osimhen will not be transferring to Tottenham unless Harry Kane will leave the club according to his agent Ariyo Igbayilola. He with his performance in the Ligue 1 for the club Lille has received praises of many and attention of many clubs in Europe. He joined Lille from the Belgium club Charleroi in the last summer and he has scored 18 goals and assisted six goals across all the competitions for the club.


According to the reports, many top clubs of Premier League has opted to sign him which includes Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. His agent has confirmed that Jose Mourinho has contacted them and has discussed regarding the availability of the player. But Harry Kane’s presence will mostly delay the deal.

Jamie O’Hara keen on Harry Kane to continue legacy at Spurs

 

English footballer Jamie O’Hara said that Kane should focus on making his legacy in Tottenham rather than moving forward to Manchester United. In the past six years,Kane has grown to be one of the best forwards in football with his time in Tottenham. He has scored 181 goals with 278 appearancesfor the club in all competitions. He has also received two Premier League golden boots in the past years.

From January onwards he had to stay on the benches as he was injured. Since then there have been many speculations that Kane will be moving away from the Spurs to other clubs. He hassaid that if Tottenham is lacking behind then he will not be hesitating to leave the club.

Harry Kane Ready to Training in Small Groups

Harry Kane has said that he is ready to train in small groups. The football in England was suspended from March due to the spread of coronavirus. There are certain speculations that the Premier League will be restarting from mid-June. The football committee has not announced anything officially and the government has also issued the matches will be only resumed if the health conditions are not hazardous to the players. England has lost thousands of lives to the virus and they are one of the countries who have been severely affected.


Kane as shown interest on group training to return on small groups. The players have returned to individual training in the past weeks which hasbrought back the football to England. This shows that COVID-19 has not diminished the hopes of people and football will be back soon. Premier Leaguecommittee has decided to take small steps on restarting the matches. They are planning on different protocols that should be followed by the players and staff.

Kane confident of appearing for England at Euro 2020

England captain Harry Kane is confident of making Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euro 2020 in the summer. The 26-year-old picked up a hamstring injury with Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of the year and it was initially feared that he could be sidelined for around six months after going through a surgery.

However, the marksman has made a quicker recovery than expected and speaking to Sky Sports, he is confident of returning to first-team action with Spurs by mid-April. He added that he is confident of representing the Three Lions at Euro 2020 where they are regarded as one of the favourites to pick up the silverware.
