With the pace of the Villa side I think we're gonna have to go with Zokora. Let Ledders & Woody deal with the tall Carew. Lennon has to start over Bentley for this game. I can't see anyone else keeping up with Ashley Young on that side. At least Lennon could double up with Corluka.

I think some tactical nous here is needed. Firstly, we need to neutralize Young and Agbonlahor's speed. Whom of our defender's is fast? Bale? If so, he could do a job marking young. Get a taller person on Carew as well. Maybe use Corluka in midfield instead of defenc due to said speed problems, he could do a job on Barry.
Also, Luke young is a bit of a weak link in their defence. He play's on the right so Dos Santos might be able to use use superior skills to beat him constantly andmaybe draw a few fouls. Lennon could terrorize him too, zipping in and out of the box which might bring a goal or a penalty.
good points about Agbonlahor and Young as they have loads of pace to burn and they can really cause problems bale wont be trying to keep up with young though as young plays on the left and Milner will be on the right who is also a good player the pacy two could cause us trouble so I think that we need to play the backline a bit deeper and if we don't we need to be very careful not to get caught becuase they can make you pay
As long as Woody and Ledders are on top of their game, we wont need full backs. They will just head every cross into the box away all day long.
Seriously though these two boys Young and Agbonlahore are proppa mustard and I would love them in Lillywhites jerseys.
Hutton and Corluka are good enough and experienced enough to deal with these two young upstarts and The aformentioned god's of defending are big enough to deal with that big lump they have up front.
Our trouble will be up the other end. We gotta hope that Pav is switched right on and bags on his debut.
They are a well organised outfit well motivated and capable of beating us if we turn up with anything less that the commitment we had against the Chavs.

Villa are a good side no doubt and like P_Unit said we gotta bring our A game to win. I have a feeling pava will be on fire,

too fragile formation.. Modric and Jenas together are not good enough as DM players.. and by putting just one of them to fight with all the enemy force is too much. x)

Modric isn't a defensive midfielder and Dos Santos isn't a natural playmaker from that position.
Also why would you play Cambell instead of pavlychenko?

Attacking version with crosses to Roman from Bently and GDS, active fullbacks, and Modric as a playmaker.
yeah and bring lennon on with 20 minutes left; i think villa are a really good team and it will be a very hard battle but it could be an intereesting game to watch COYS
