Just drew a little formation which is an adaption of the Catenaccio formation.
It looks like another 4-5-1 but the difference is having the two centrebacks one in front of the other.
King can stay in defence while Kaboul can play a sweeper-type role.
Parker can also defend in the middle too. As for attack, even though Catenaccio systems
aren't used so much today because of it's 'negative, defensive, typically Italian' manner,
there is still a capacity for attack. There would be Bale, Defoe, Adebayor, Modric and more importantly Van Der Vaart,
who could have a more relaxed role (e.g. placed on the wing but able to cut inside on his left foot).
Thoughts?
Reporter: "What is it like to score against the best team in the world [Barcelona]?".
Jake Livermore: "Score against the best team in the world??? I play for them [TOTTENHAM]."
That actually looks quite similar to the Total Football formations.
van der Vaart won't be happy about playing on the right lol. Adebayor isn't versatile enough to play in midfield.
Maybe switch Adebayor for Parker, and put Sandro in Parkers position.
The main change is defensively, but I'm not sure it'll work because we'd be too open in the channels either side of King.
