I think we have to take into account Hulk was playing in the Japanese league before he went to Porto, now he is being talked about as worth upwards of £30 million. I bet there were doubters in porto before they signed him, saying he had been playing against rubbish defenders.
Well Porto could afford to take the risk, we can't really we need a world reknown goalscorer.

Known as Welliton.
I know he's been linked to a couple big shot English clubs for a while, including Spurs, however I've been keeping an eye out on this guy not expecting to see much, after hearing about him from a friend and i honestly cant belive that we havent bought him yet. I watched Spratak Moskva's draw v Anzhi... ( the rich club that bought eto'o) and even though they drew, he yet again impressed me by keeping the Spartak offense dangerous, even giving their winger (Emenike) 2 clear chances that he missed...shame, but Welliton's preformances have been great...fitting for the Premier league.
In Russia he is known for his blistering speed, deadly shot and not to mention those incredible Brazillian skilling feet. He has a good scoring record, not to mention being incredibly unselfish with great assist record for a forward. He is often contended with Doumbia for the title of Russia's most deadly striker.
He reminds me of Defoe in some aspects, such as creating great chances out of nothing and being at the right place at the right time ( a striker must).
Nevertheless, Russian press has speculated agent activity in his games, from clubs such as Sao Paolo, PSG and Real Madrid. I think it would be great to see a Spurs agent over there soon because this boy has real talent.
Not to mention that clubs could gain his signature for a relatively small £9 million price tag, cheap in relation to other strikers of his caliber.
If Spurs want a deadly striker, and one thet they could potentially sell in the future for much more (as all do) then this boy is a real deal. I can just see him creating craters through Arsenal's defense now...if you watch him, then you will know what i mean.

We dont really need another Defoe type striker........first priority is securing a #9 type striker who can lead the line on their own.
Then I'd reckon we'd need a versatile ST who can also play as a winger (or slightly more advanced) to push Lennon for his place (Remy).
Followed by Hazard or someone else who can play in the hole.
Then Vertonghen.
If Wellinton can be that sort of verstaile ST but can also play out wide then I think he'd be worth a shot but it doesnt sound ilke he'd suit that role.
Although with Defoe's aging legs we could be replacing him soon as well.
Steven Caulker is the messiah!
hmmm i disagree, i really think, based on recent preformances and that of earlier in the season, that we need a deadly striker. Adebayor is good, at times and saha hasnt produced too many great performances.
We need goals and thats something we've been struggling with.
Dont think we need new wingers, Lennon on the right and Bale on the left are a deadly combination and we dont need to start spending more money on a bench warmer.
I agree on a defender...but in football goals are a priority above anything else.
Welliton is a must hahaha
When Lennon or Bale are out of our starting XI we lack shape and width.....we need to bring in a versatile winger who can play either wing and has a bit of pace to their game. When the two above are out injured or just one is playing we depend too much on that player. Junior Hoilett is an ideal player to bring who will be cheap, but we could also bring in a player like Remy who could effectively push Lennon since he's used as a wide forward for Marseille and also a ST in a 4 4 2 when we need to play it.
We need a deadly striker but you have to look at what you're bringing in. As long as Defoe is a Spurs player we wont be bringing in a similar player to him. As we continue to play 1 up front we will need at least 2 #9 type strikers who can lead the line, set up goals, and get a decent amount for themselves. Adebayor, while he's been inconsistent at times has done enough so far this season in terms of goals scored and assists. Not to mention the 5 or 6 that have been disallowed. If those would have gone our way I dont think many Spurs fans would be moaning about some of his performances. He also needs to be pushed for his place so he doesnt get complacent but he doesnt really have that right now. He knows when he's fit he'll be starting and thats not the mentality a footballer needs. If we sign him for under 10 million and maybe bring in another #9 either in the summer or January I think we'll be ok. But then again you have a problem with rotating 4 strikers yet only playing 1 during a game. Harry has mentioned that this is a problem so I think we'll continue to carry 3 for as long as we're playing a 4 5 1.
Saha has been here for 2 months so its early to judge him but he was always going to be playing a bit part role so that we could finally get rid of Pav.
We need to improve the squad as a whole and get rid of some of the shite we have sitting around the club.

An absolute beast on FIFA 12............what else matters?

Well, when it comes to defoe, he isnt doing as well as fans would hope, when i said that he reminds me of defoe i meant only a few characteristic, this lad is better the defoe...
I agree that the rotation of 4 strikers is an issue, but i think its more of a formation issue than anything else we need 2 up front...if we want more goals that is what we need.
Saha, sure he's only been here for 2 months but he's been with everton for quite a while and when i see him play for spurs i still see that ineffective striker that everton was struggling to deal with. I really hope that he improves, i loved how he played for man u but after his spell there he just went down hill from then.
Welliton could be adebayors partner...with skill, pace and aggression, he and adebayor could develope into an unstoppable force
The problem with playing two up front is that we get destroyed up the middle against the bigger teams. We need to play VDV in that 4-5-1 so that we can boss the midfield and create space for people Bale and Lennon to exploit the wings.
I wouldn't mind seeing the 5-3-2 we played against Stoke in the 2nd half make a few more appearances. Test it out against the smaller teams just to see how well it works.
