Sky Sports Sources understand Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Portsmouth star Niko Kranjcar.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapphas lined up a move for Kranjcar
as a replacement for injured Croatian compatriot Luka Modric.
Modric faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg against Birmingham on Saturday and Redknapp has moved quickly to fill the void by targeting Kranjcar.
Kranjcar's future has been the subject of constant speculation all summer with the player unhappy about the number of big-name departures at Fratton Park.
Redknapp knows all about Kranjcar having worked with him during his time in charge of Portsmouth and it appears he is set to be reunited with the classy midfielder.
Target
Sky Sports sources also understand Tottenham have made an enquiry for Manchester City winger Martin Petrov.Petrov's future at City looks in doubt following the arrival of a number of high-profile signings and a several clubs are thought to be monitoring his situation at Eastlands.
Redknapp has been a long-term admirer of Petrov and is thought he has sounded out a move for the Bulgarian as he weighs up his options before the close of the transfer window

VDV aint comin is he lol
Lots of rumours and even the Guardian saying:
PETROV TO SPURS IN EXCHANGE FOR BENTLEY + £10 MILLION.
Wat a deal that wuld b?
"Modric could play in any team in the world in my opinion, he's a fantastic footballer, top, top class."
a couple of people have mentioned Petrov's age as a concern.
If im honest i dont think its too big a concern as we have in 'Arry a manager who is a master at gettin the best out of players approaching the 'twilight' or latter stages of their careers.
The potential strength in depth & variety of our midfield is truly very exciting![]()
That would be brilliant if that was true!!! Dont know why Man City would want bentley anyway lol, Dont thay have enough mone to buy ribery or someone lol

How old is Petrov anyway? Many people raised the same issue when we was about to get arse shavings, but look at him now. Players can go on longer than expected, as long as they are willing to keep putting the effort it. Look at Teddy, and although he's a defender, Maldini.
"You score goals as a kid. Then you grow up stupid and become a goalkeeper."
Petrov is 30
look at this Bulgarian international Martin Petrov's transfer to White Hart Lane appears to be certain, and according to several media reports, he is expected to become a Spurs player by the end of the day on August 31.
Media reports suggest that Spurs have tabled a 3.5 million pounds sterling bid to sign the City winger. The Londoners had been flirting with the player and were keen on signing him on several previous occasions but in their last bid in 2007, they lost him to City as they could not match the wage-range.
Currently, speculation has it that is paid about 70 000 pounds a week at the Eastlands. As a consequence of the massive reinforcement campaign that went on in the summer, however, Petrov had been relegated in status to a peripheral player, rather than a first team choice.
And during his recent trip to Bulgaria, during the country's friendly with Latvia on August 12, he told Bulgarian media that he expected to leave Manchester City.
"I don't see City depending too much on me this year, at least from what I have seen from the pre-season friendlies so far. No footballer is content with polishing the bench and I am no exception," he said, in an interview for Dnevnik.
Spurs' Harry Redknapp sees Petrov as "providing good width on the left flank" and said that signing him would "give the Spurs manager the option of moving Luka Modric into a more central role," the London Evening Standard has reported .
Reports indicate that Manchester City are willing to sell Petrov but will probably hold out for a higher fee before the window closes on Tuesday.
