      taken from my blog:

"It seems it may be possible that the god of common sense has blessed our beloved pooched faced manager. With Bentley seemingly crashing his career into a lamp-post , the Sissoko deal seemingly stalled and Robbie Keane still exhibiting scattergun form, the news of a £4m bid for Damien Duff from an unnamed club could possibly indicate another move on our part.

Whilst its far from clear that it is us who have made the move, he is a player that we could certainly find good use for. Firstly he is a bonafide left-sided midfielder, and would offer an experienced cover on that side of the field (HR doesn’t seem convinced with fans cries for Gio and Bale at LM), and could possibly allow us to move the continually improving Modric into a more pivotal central role, allowing us to finally play with 11 men on the pitch, (discounting the non-entity that is Jenas for 90% of games).

Secondly, with Robbie finding himself frustrated that his move to Liverpool essentially preempting Bentley’s misfortune in career terms, bringing a proven foil in for him, AND someone who is able to swing a cross into Crouchy’s head range is certainly a master stroke in balancing the team and adding more attacking options.

Logic finally penetrating Spurs transfer policy? Only time will tell."

you'll have to excuse the sanctimonious tone, i'm new to the blogging lark

Doesn't look like it us bidding according to SSN transfer centre

07.30 A couple of early lines coming out of Friday's written press include Fulham and Wolves bidding for Newcastle winger Damien Duff, while Alex McLeish says he is still three players short at Birmingham City.

Lets be honest, he chose Newcastle over us when he left Chelsea, he wasn't a bad player then and I would have welomed him but now Newcastle have gone down and so has his form, why would we want to sign him? The teams mentioned above are about the right sort of level, I like to think we would be looking at a bit better class of player.

30 years old and £4m? it can't be West Ham then.
they'll wait 3-4 years and then buy him for £6m on a five year contract worth £50k per week net.

"Unnamed club" is pretty vague, and could mean any of about 15 Prem teams.
I really dont think we need a LW anyway. I'd much rather we put up a bit more cash and signed Sissoko, or maybe van der Vaart. If we dont, its gonna be Jenas in midfield.

It could be us for all we know. SSN got it wrong about the Bassong bid. It's only Sky Sources, if theres 2 clubs with interest they could easily get it wrong. Credit to them though, they are right more often than not.
