Everyone has off days & the left-side was the least of Real's problems when they faced 'Pool the other day. Their biggest problem was their tactics. Juande completely underestimated & misread them. He had never been to Anfield & believed it nothing special. He also thought Liverpool would defend their lead & (as we know from his time at Spurs) when things start to go wrong, Juande goes to pieces!

However, Liverpool were by no means the better side in the 1st leg & Heinze has played them many times over the years & has usually had the upper hand. Why do you think Rafa was so desperate to land him after he left United?

Don't forget also that Liverpool have been on a different level recently & have not just whipped Real but also taken down Man U 4-1 & Villa 5-0! None of them are bad sides & I would not call Evra or Young useless LBs just because of those results. In fact, I'd still love to have either of them at Spurs, just like I would love to have Heinze.

In La Liga, of their last 13 games Real have won 12, drawn 1 & conceded just 5 times & kept 9 clean sheets. Yeah, they're rubbish!

Also, for some reason Robben has been playing a lot on the right for Real, not the left.

the spanish league alot like the pl the smaller clubs dont attack the big boys

as i can see that you are a big heinze fan so i will not g on but i dont rallly rate heinxe fergie rarely gets rid of players he thinks are still good enough for united

i think hed be our first choice LB but i think it would be harsh on BAE to replace him whilst he is doing so well

tbh, I wouldn't call myself a Heinze fan, but he is still a very good LB.

Fergie did not want to get rid of Heinze either. In fact he did everything he could to keep him but Gabby wanted, for whatever reason, to go to Liverpool. Fergie only sold him to Real to keep him away from Rafa.

The thing with Heinze is he excellent defensively & going into a tackle, neither being BAE's strong points. i'll give Ekotto his dues, he was very good against Chelsea, but he is still a liability defensively. He needs to do what he did against the Chavs from now till the end of the season for me to even want to keep him. He is a LONG way off top 4 material, whereas Heinze IS top 4 material & could help any understudy to be the same. I hope we get him so that we can begin a legacy in that position which we've lacked for years.

I think the fact Fergie would under no circumstances sell him to a Title contender says it all about the player. I have been impressed with the way BAE has improved under 'Arry but there is still far better out there. Heinze would solidify the LB position if we were to get him. Fingers crossed.

I absolutley agree basskadet, Juande got his tactics way off target and didn't know how to respond, Real were like rabbits dazzled by headlights with that onslaught, and I never saw Liverpool play so well, that is until the following weekend agaist MU. SAF also got a shock!

I thought Rafa was still quite interested in Gaby?

And why did he want to leave MU???..... because things changed between him and SAF when he played in the World Cup in Germany 2006. He went straight there from injury against SAF's wishes! Things were never the same and Gaby knew what that meant!!! Look at others SAF let go because he had disagreements.... Beckham, Stam, Van Nistelrooy..... all top drawer!!!

And did anyone see Athletico Bilbao v Real Madrid recently??? RM faced what I can only describe as a Spanish version of Milwall!!!! They didn't show them any respect.... 8 yellow cards and 3 red to Bilbao! Sadly Gaby scored at both ends...... but he had to try and intercept the cross, very unlucky.

Yes, Gaby would be a great mentor for up and coming players..... well said! Both on and off the pitch.

i dunno whenever i watch him hes a liability. liverpool v madrid comes to mind where he had a nightmare. hes not good enough anymore for top class champions league games but i guess maby hele fit into our side. 4 mil is indeed a bargin, and madrid did buy him fro 7 not long ago at all. wonder where bale fits into all this

I think that would have extended to most of the RM team at Anfield, that is except Casilllas.... otherwise the score would have been double figures!!! Anyway Gaby is also well suited to the centre where pace is less important which would leave room for Bale. He is awesome in the air at set pieces..... don't underestimate him and his influence on a team in the dresssing room too. He would take bale under his wing.
