bass i'm not p!ssin on your fireworks mate i'm really not , but we already have so many players that looked good - only to not cut it in the EPL for us . Just look at how many players have gone through our books over the last 10 years . The scum have spent £225 million , we have spent £375 million in that time . We need to take stock of our actions over the last 10 years and learn from it . The scum have spent far less than us and have had champions league football for most of that time . Mostly because they have had a long term manager and a long term plan . Even this season when it looked like the bubble had finally started to burst , they find a second wind . We must have a long term plan , and stop reaching for the revolver every time we have a bad game . Only teams that have a true stability in their set up will last a whole season without imploding .

We only have to look at how many players we were linked with in the transfer window to show how diissorganised we are .

      10
      20
      30

Ok now how many were Man Utd linked with .

Now we should be looking for specific players = not a replacement for every player on the pitch , = total madness

I posted this on a separate thread but I suppose it deserves to go here.
We don't need a complete overhaul. Just a piece or two. But we have to trim the fat, and bring in some solid reserves.

      IN:
      Aiden McGeady or Joe Cole
      Taye Taiwo
      Steed
      Peter Crouch

      OUT:
      Jenas
      Bentley
      Hutton
      Bent
      Gilberto

      Gives us this
Gomes/Cudicini (whoever is in form like American Hockey)

      Corluka-----------------------King-------------------Woodgate---------------------Tawio/BAE
(Chimbonda, Zokora, Gunter) (Dawson, Huddlestone, Corluka) (BAE, Chimbonda, Bale, O'Hara)

      Lennon-----------------------------------Palacios--------------------------------------McGeady/Cole
(Steed, O'Hara, Adel) (Zokora, Huddlestone, Steed) (Gio, O'Hara, Steed, Bale, Adel)

      ----------------------------------------------Modric----------------------------------------------------
      (McGeady, Huddlestone, Keano, Adel, Steed)

      ----------------------------Defoe---------------------------------Keano------------------------------------
      (Pavs, Crouch)

A lot of interchangable parts to go along with a solid core. Just imagine Wilson and Luka's second prem season. Always better then the first. Pavs needs a summer break and Gio knows what to expect next year. I would love to see Joe Cole but i'll also take McGeady in a flash. We the injuries and natural rotation all the players should see some spots.

I'm curious about these Heinze rumors. I don't see us getting him or him wanting to come here. But the same could be said about McGeady and Tawio too.

Although after looking at basskadet's lineup that would be a SOLID squad. Not a lot of size in the middle but our D more then makes up in that.
I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, Spurs-Nasty, I was thinking that too. It places a lot on Palacios' shoulders and he isn't even the biggest. I did put Appiah in there but I don't see him coming anymore. I like Zokora & with him & Palacios competing for the holding slot its difficult to pick out someone else.

However, Pav & Gignac are both 6ft+ & we have height at the back so I don't think size is too important in the middle as long as they have a bit of fight in them & Palacios has plenty! O'Hara too can provide a bit of grit when needed.

Kev, you make a valid point but I would still change the squad a bit this summer as there still needs work & Harry needs some more of his own men. If we get it right this summer, we leave it alone. Also, I tried to keep the main core of the squad intact & just work on the 2-3 positions we needed strengthening.

Anyway, for the purposes of this hypothetical thread where you could put any player you like in a Spurs shirt, its a little boring saying we change the squad too frequently! lol

      GOMES

      CORLUKA KING/DAWSON WOODGATE TAIWO

      LENNON MOUTINHO PALACIOS COLE

      KEANE/DEFOE

      PAVLYUCHENKO

tough one guys and you may ask where's modric? my honest answer is that i dont no because its hard to fit him in, because ever since he moved out of CM we've started winning again, plus he isnt a natural left sided player so its really hard, i still want him at spurs for years to come though

Just a random question but why does everyone include Cole as their left mid option? He has the fitness of a 90 year old smoker.

id rather have downing with a bit of proper training from redknapp we could see a marked improvement from him in our shirt.

he may not have been played at cm but he was still on the pitch influencing the games....which makes him a reason as to why we are having a winning streak....if he hadent been playing in those games then your idea would have made sence but thats not the case...anyways cole is getting old and moutinho isnt really proven quality either so why would you buy an unproven player for 20 mill who could turn out a flop in plans of putting one of your best players on the bench...makes no sence

My opinion Modric is our top player this season, i would never even think about putting him on the bench. We all got our own opinions.

I think Obika and the rest of the good u18 will get loaned out again next season but to a championship team . Dos santos , Boateng, Taarabt and gunter will get a chance if they perform good while they are loaned out or get loaned out again to an epl team.
