Agreed on the CF point, although i would be surprised if Bent and Pav were here after the summer.
3 strikers would be enough to see us through next season especially if Modric and Gio play to their full potential supporting the attackers.
Moutinho would be a good addition to the squad because he is a CM, and plays the position like Gerrard. He is Like JJ but 10x better. When we sell JJ and Hudd we need to replace them with 1 player to add the depth we need for a CL push next season and i though Moutinho on his stats would be ideal, although unproven i admit mate.

Who would you sign in CM if you were Harry?

      Taye Taiwo or Glen Johnson
      Steed
      Peter Crouch
For a start we definitely do not need Glenn Johnson. He is a RB whilst Taiwo is the LB that we need. I truly feel we need 2 players for this position, especially if we do indeed see Gilberto, Bale & possibly BAE leaving in the summer. Taiwo is the best choice to fill the void but he is young &, altho talented, is still learning his trade to an extent. That's why I think the experienced head of Heinze would be perfect for Taiwo to shadow. Heinze can also cover as a left-sided CB, something we do not have enough of, & he'd be great around the dressing room with all his experience & winning mentality. Having players like him, players who have won titles, I think is extremely important to move this club forward.

Well that is a good question, because our CM does need strengthening. Palacios and Modric are definitely going to be here after the summer, but JJ, Hudd and Zokora's futures are still doubtful. I think JJ and Hudd will probably be off.

Personally I don't know who would be a good player to fill in that CM role. Perhaps, cheeky suggestion, Yoan Gourcuff and Bordeaux on loan from Milan. Ancelotti has said that Gourcuff's future lies away from Milan and I think the asking price for him is around 14M euros, which is a price we can pay. Anyway just a quick, short noticed suggestion.

Anyway, I think Moutinho would cost us quite a lot, maybe about £14M. How much do you think he'd cost?

I would imagine probably no more than £10mil to £14mil (pretty much your guess). He is a well known player throughout Europe and i am bemused why no big teams have come in for him as of yet. I heard rumours that Everton wanted him but if they keep their noses out we may bag him for a bargain. I am aware though that a little interest in him could see his pricetag spiral upwards at a rate of knots though which would be a major stumbling block.

Completely overlooked Gourkouff though and at around the price Ancelotti is qouting he could be a good bit of business. Good suggestion mate.

One stumbling block with Gourcuff is that Bordeaux have first option on him and they'll probably bite Milan's arm off at that price. Anyway I'm still not 100% sure we need another CM in summer. I think our first team next season might look something like: Gomes - Hutton, King, Woody, Taiwo - Lennon, Palacios, Modric, Capel - Keane, Pav. Possibly Downing or McGeady instead of Capel on the left.

Anyway bottom line is if we should get a CM, he should be for cover if JJ and Hudd get flogged off. I don't think 'Arry'll put Modric in the hole because then he'd probably have to remove one of the forwards and it would be tough to rotate 4 forwards in 1 spot.

I think Gourcuff is class but I can't see him leaving Milan, whatever Ancelotti is saying right now. AC Milan is an ageing side & he is part of the next genneration. He has spent the season on loan at Girondins & all he has done is surely convince the rossoneri that her has a place there.

If we could get Gourcuff, happy days, but I just can't see it. Also, he is prone to lapses in concentration & can go AWOL a little in the bigger fixtures (he went completely missing when Girondins took on league leaders Lyon earlier in the year & also was not as effective as hoped against ?Chelsea in the CL). Last thing we need is another JJ but Gourcuff, imo, is more talented & is younger, so he has time to work on his consistency.

BTW, with Moutinho, Sporting were quoting well in excess of £20m! That's why Everton pulled out of the deal. Its the same story as with Veloso. Sporting consider the pair of them as essential & won't let them go lightly

Ancelotti said that Gourcuff's future lies away from AC Milan. Milan are my favourite Italian team, so I wasn't happy when he said that (I was fuming ) but Spurs should take advantage of this if he's gonna leave.

Thanks Bass, I knew Moutinho was held in high regard at Sporting but I never knew Everton had been qouted £20mil.
IMO he is well worth the money, Veloso is good but I dont think he is as impressive as Moutinho.
He is 22 years old and is already Sportings Captain. He was vice captain at 19 years of age.
He has CL experience under his belt and played in a UEFA cup final at 19 years old.
He can play anywhere in the midfield and goes from box to box for 90 minutes.
The guy is pure class and could be Spurs answer to Gerrard.
I would love it if we bought him and he ripped Fabregas and fat Frank to shreds.
We need a talisman and I honestly believe Joao Moutinho is the man for the job.

I don't see Heinze or anyone of that caliber coming to Spurs. We might as well hope for Capedevilla or Evra. We have to win to get the good players. With that being said, I don't think we sell BAE or Bale. But I hope we bring in Taiwo.

He's class but bringing him in basically puts Modric on the left. I think some of our most dangerous play can be with Modric and Lennon working together. They don't on the opposite wings (too often at least) and we won't go 5 across the middle if we want to compete with the big boys. I also see his price tag running us off a bit. I think we'll be alright in the middle with Wilson. He is a beast.

over recent days we are now constantly linked with strikers and attacking midfielders (ie young, huntelaar, negrado etc) we havent been linked with many centre mids and lb and cb where we thought we would strengthen.

with zokora gone, we thought we'd have a replacement lined up....maybe arry thinks kpb is the replacement who knows??

      your thoughts?

You may have something there with KPB pushing into the middle = even if Harry does bring another CM i cant see them being fielded in the first game against the bin-dippers , otherwise Harry could be on a hiding to nothing if they haven't gelled properly and we concede due to communication problems .
