IMO we are on the right track, especially with our latest acquisitions of Cudicini, Keane, Palacios, Defoe and to a lesser degree Chimbonda.
Our last game v 'the gooners' whilst we didn't win, we secured a point, which is worth gold at the moment. In previous weeks we have been absolutely woefull and haven't even looked competitive.
Had we continued to perform in the same vain as we portrayed v earlier opposition we would have been slaughtered by them. The guys at long last started to play as a team, instead of a bunch of gifted individuals.
Had Robbie not been given the captains armband for the 1st time, i suspect he would have been substituted in the 2nd half, as it wasn't his most inspiring performance. Obviously he has to learn all about the Modric and Pavluchenko qualities as these are players who will definately enhance and suit Robbies style of play. We all know Robbie is a class player, but he hasn't had to much game time recently and is still probably smarting about his time at Liverpool. I believe these guys will combine nicely and having Defoe back is an added bonus (provided he can learn to be less selfish and stay onside more often.)
Palacios was a revelation in this match and if he continues to play like that............we have the main ingrediants for a WINNING team.
Cudicini looks very sound in goal and is a very capable keeper, and with Gomes gives us 2 very decent keepers. OH! HAPPY DAYS
