Harry Redknapp has stated that Tottenham's pursuit of Downing is over and that we are no longer even in the market for a LW. He is going to concentrate on playing O'Hara & Bale in the position.

we're well and truly ****ed if we think o'hara can do the job for the rest of the season at LM. Dont get me wrong, i like the uys attitude but give him a couple of games at LM in the prem and you will all be pickin holes with him game. mind you weve been without a good LM for ages now.........

Well Ghaly can play LM from the years Martin Jol always tryed to make Lennon a left midfielder but ended up playing Ghaly on the left and tended to put Lennon the right.

Seriously though, Ghaly can play some amazing balls... really really good accuracy!

maybe "well and truly ****ed" was a bit strong, but i did have a few ales inside me there! if bales to do a job at LM this means we only have ONE LB in BAE. O'hara might be an option? Id rather see him at LB than Bale, who is too unreliable atm

I think Ghaly should be given the chance as well as o' hara , i normally dont agree with tinkering but if it has positives then it has to be considered . If Harry makes it clear that if they are not effective enough they will be substituted early , then these guys will do their best to make the position their own . I certainly dont agree with paying stupid money for a new player whilst we have two equally hungry players vie-ing for the same position . If it dont pan out , it cant be any worse than it already is .

I think this is the point tho Pitseleh. Harry implied in an earlier interview that he is not comfortable with the LB position as it stands. I suspect he is ditching Downing for the prospect of a more defensive left-sided player.

Zhirkov sounds more & more like a good option as he can do a good job either at LB or LW. However, Harry seems determined to get Prem experience in.

I agree with you there mate. Zhirkov is very, VERY unlikely. We've not even been suggested as looking at the lad. Shorey is a decent bet. I have a feeling tho there is something going on behind the scenes regarding the LB position. We've not heard too much about it but I'm sure there are players we are looking at.

Would mean a good cover = BAE and Bale could be LM which he is good at attacking.
