From Russia With Love For Spurs As Pavlyuchenko Swap Deal Is Mooted?
Submitted by Jake Briggs on Tue, 2009-01-13 17:18. Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur Premiership Transfer News
Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has been linked with a move back to Russia, with CSKA Moscow wanting to offer Brazilian Vagner Love to the Premier League club in a straight exchange for the EURO 2008 star, according to reports.
27-year-old Pavlyuchenko only signed for Spurs last summer in a 14million deal from CSKA’s rivals Spartak Moscow, but despite a recent rise in form the Russian has struggled to adapt to the rigours of the Premiership and has conceded that he is having problems with the language.
24-year-old Love was the top-scorer in the Russian Premier League in 2008 and had reportedly been on the brink of a loan move to Everton last summer, with the former Palmeiras player also said to have attracted the interest of Chelsea.
Love recently declared that he wished to leave CSKA after scoring 58 goals in 105 appearances during his four-years at the Luzhniki Stadium, with the striker favouring a move to the Blues.
“It is my aim to go to England,” Love told the Daily Express.
“I have given my best years to CSKA and it's time to move. But I'm not a replacement for Robinho - I am my own player.”
However, any interest from Chelsea seems to have cooled, with it remaining to be seen if Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes Love can succeed in the Premier League or to persevere with the improving Pavlyuchenko before considering any such deal.)))))))))))))))

keep pav hes only going to get better and wouldnt both adriano n love have the same problems pav has had with the language and culture changes
chiellini and burdisso

Forget about Adriano & any swap deals with Inter Milan. It is being reported that his wages (£120k/week) are too much & it would cost us upwards of £2m just to take him on loan till the end of the season. For someone that is essentially a risk, this is surely too much.

As we all know Harry took a trip out to Italy this week. Whilst there he inquired into 5 players, the most talked about being Adriano. However, when with Inter he also checked out Olivier Dacourt and Nicolas Burdisso. Dacourt is surely too old now for the Prem but Burdisso would be a great buy, exactly the sort of defender we need as he can play anywhere along the backline, is not too old but very experienced & not shy of a tackle or two.
The less known targets Harry asked about included Nigiria's talented DM Christian Obodo. Pompey apparently see him as a direct replacement for Diarra but Harry has dealt with Udinese before & knows about Obodo from his days playing alongside Sulley Muntari.
Finally, Harry even made a formal approach for AC Milan's goalkeeper Christian Abbiati but was rejected. Harry is still looking for a backup keeper after his move for the Polish Sebastian Przyowski got delayed until at least the summer. Abbiati would have been a fine number 2 & I guess we'll have to wait and see if anything further materializes from Harry's Italian adventure.
Its good to hear that our manager is going to such lengths to check out players himself (altho I do remember Juande also being reported as visiting Italy in the summer, specifically to look at Borriello) & not just relying on his scouts for info.

i am surprised arry has done this because he said he would be sticking to players he knew but think he has had a u-turn with the prices he has been quated for some of his prefered targets i think now that he is going to do most of his shopping abroad
I'd love to see some more domestic talent in the squad but like everything else in the UK, its overpriced. I'd rather we shopped abraod and paid reasonable amounts of money, than be bent over and raped for £15m to sign Stewart bloody Downing.
Whilst I like the fact that Harry wants to look himself, we are preparing for a VITAL league game against Pompey at the weekend. I know he is back in England now but I hope he wasn't away from training too long. I know that he trusts Kevin, Clive & Joe to take things & prepare but I just feel more comfortable thinking Harry is there in control.
Its an especial annoyance now that it appears to have all been in vain. The only 2 still left in the picture are Burdisso & Obodo. I like both players but I think we really need someone like Burdisso & altho his agent says it is unlikely, it has not yet been ruled out.

According to Virgin Media, Tottenham are in talks with Inter Milan about a deal to sign Adriano with Gareth Bale possibly going the other way.
Let it be a loan deal please.
Adriano may not cut it and Bale needs time to get his crap together.
Mourinho needs this brasilian player especially after the match from last night: Inter- Rome 2-1 , he played absolutely magic ! so I don`t think so that he will come to us ! rumours , rumours...
