I really wonder why Arseshavin hasn't fired his agent, he screwed up him going to Tottenham, now he is on the verge of screwing up going to Arsenal.... Nani is a no, no. He thinks he is the next Ronaldo wearing the white tape around the bottom of his socks, I feel sorry for him.

Sorry for going off topic, but how much does the average agent make these days then?

Well put it this way it`s obviously well paid or they wouldn`t do it would they ? Just look at the Defoe deal a £700,000 loyalty bonus ? you can bet the agent claimed 10% of that.

I think the whole system is flawed. . . Agents make a wad of money when their player moves to another club. So even if the player is happy at his club, his agent is chipping away at him, winding him up and saying that clubs are after him trying to get him to move. It shouldnt be allowed. There's very few agents with any scruples whatsoever. Downings old agent was creaming money off for himself, and Stewy had to talk to the club about it, and they decided to go to the police.

I have no axe to grind with Spurs, but you can bet most of the BS with stuart downing was caused by agents, whispering in managers and players ears. If it was me I would ban all agents, and just have PFA and LMA appointed negotiators to get the best deal for the player and club, once the sale had been agreed between the clubs and the player.

I also would scrap the transfer window, and have year round transfers like it used to be. The window just encourages a feeding frenzy for any half decent players, and overinflates players values. You just watch all the mad deals going off in the last couple of days of the window.

I think player prices are just beyond mad. . whether any of us agree about it or not, in the current market Downing is worth about £15 million. . FFS We built the Riverside Stadium for £16 million. . . !!!! When you can sell a player for the same money as it cost to build your stadium then you know theres a serious problem

      What's your thoughts chaps. . .

This is quite a popular idea, especially amongst the managers. It also goes back to this whole 'cup-tied' thing. The rule was brought in before the introduction of the transfer windows to stop people buying players just because they've reached the latter stages of a competition. However, that's impossible now that the you can only buy people at specific periods with only the Carling Cups finalists really coinciding with the January window.

Either scrap the windows or the cup-tie rule but having both makes little sense.

Ive always said that whatever happens and whatever rules you bring in , its not gonna work . Boot money got good performances , the better you played the more money was in ur boot when u got out of the bath . These days they are wrapped in cotton wool . They rely on these parasite agents that take a percentage , to get them a future but its backfiring . The real problem is that the players think that they can play badly to get an arm around the shoulder and a pay rise to give them a lift . But if they were playing outstanding football , surely thats the way to be recognised , and get the deal you want , with a club you have already moved to .

My way of thinking is that if a player signs a 5 year deal , he is on a set wage ... Plus performance related bonuses . If he excels after one year it should be linked to the relative salaries of players that excel after one year , if not , they should remain where they are , wage wise . You cant have players thinking its fine to pick up a wage packet week in week out and then at the time of contract renewal have a burst of form . Which seems to be the current trend and Which is the sort of player we tend to attract .

Dunno for sure, in a local newspaper poll, 75% were behind him, but the boo boys only need a few to be heard. He will definitely play tomorrow, but he is a player with integrity, as long as he has the shirt on he will give his best no question. . .I think if he makes a positive impact straight away, it might shut them up, especially seeing as we are playing Sunderland.

I know Steve Gibson had clear the air talks with Stewart and his dad today.
