"met the lad this past summer when chelsea, villa and rovers came to hk.. partied with him, morten pedersen, mauro formica, michel salgado etc... chatted with him and he expressed that he was looking to move to a big club to end his career. was really down to earth and seems like someone who wouldnt mind supporting his team from the bench. heard from morten and michel that he is a class act / great leader in the lockerroom. hope this helps."

Well I just read this which is interesting.

"He had an offer to become a player-coach at an American club, a situation that he was very excited about," Kean said. "It was over a two-year period and then right at the very last minute Tottenham came in and offered him a short-term contract until the end of the season.

"I don't know if the opportunity in America will still be there, I would imagine so, so he's decided to take a short-term contract. He was a fabulous servant for the club and we wish him all the best, because it's going to be another chapter in his career."

A lot of possibilities but some seem to think that club was the Galaxy which makes sense because that's our weakest position. Other possibilities are Philly and Portland, but I'd bet it was us. It's basically the same thing we did with Berhalter who's now the manager of a Swedish club. If he was coming to get involved with coaching the kids then I'd be all for it. My one criticism of the Galaxy's youth setup is that we don't have coaches with much European experience, we need guys like Nelsen.

I think this Nelsen deal will only last until the end of the season so I'd still take him for the second half of the MLS season. I'm not sure what our CB situation will be at that time, might not need him.

Yeah I forgot to mention them.

Out of all the clubs though I can see LA being the most aggressive because Gonzo did his knee. We were looking at Adam Bruce (Leeds) but I don't think that's going to happen, not a big loss anyways. We still have a couple months to sort it out.

Oh, whoops. I thought it was just a coaching role that he was linked with. Not too sure what United need but he could easily play for half a season when the fall hits
