I don't really understand why Huddlestone's injury makes us any more or less likely to buy a new midfielder. If we went back in for Parker, he would obviously be a very short term fix to a very short term problem. Yes, we need to fill in that missing link that Tom has left, but what would this accomplish for next year? We already have plenty of people that are surplus to requirements in the midfield, and honestly, with a healthy Huddlestone, Modric, Jenas, and Van der Vaart and Sandro a year older, will Parker have any spot in the side? I don't think so. To my thinking, going after Parker now would be a panic buy-- a quick fix to a problem that will cease to exist in the space of a couple months and anyway. If we bought him at a high price from West Ham and then we had to offload him next year, we would definitely take a financial loss on these transactions. Why spend the money if the problem will fix itself in a couple of months?
