A lot of supporters are of the opinon that we have now got five strikers with the signing of Eidur Gudjohnson, I dont really see it that way, more of an attacking midfielder and player who can operate in the diamond formation comfortably.
We have been crying out for Arry to get players with this experience and as we know not too many of them around, so EG fits the bill plenty of top european games under his belt and also the ability to unlock stubborn defences. How many times this season have we had teams park the bus? we have constantly asked the question of our players and to be honest not once have they found the answer to the problem and this is where EG will come in to play for us, he truly is a player with plenty of big game experience with top European clubs in the Champions League EG has a range of passing skills that can unlock the most difficult of defences coupled with the ability to score some great goals. I have had many calls from friends and family members who are Chelski fans and they all rave about him, they all agree he was a very instrumental player in his time at the Bridge and feel they lost something when he left. I don't see Arry using him as a forward at all, more of an attacking midfielder for me, bringing him on in these games where we cannot find a way through to penetrate stubborn defences and for that reason he does not need a player who is match fit for 90 mins straight away, he can gradually increase his match time over a period of weeks unless of coarse we are struck with more injury problems and he is forced to use him for a full shift. We love quality players at WHL and in Eidur Gudjohnson Arry has brought such a player to strengthen the squad, and in typical Arry fashion he has done it on with very little outlay, EG now has until the end of season to impress and earn a contract and if not he returns to Monaco so we have very little to lose really and an awful lot to gain if it all goes well. EG is still only 31 years of age and has got a reasonable level of fitness and has not really sufferered too much injury in his career and on that basis coupled with his experience I feel it's another bit of Arry doing what he does best, signing very good players for very litle outlay.
