Swanny's View: THFC 4-0 Peterborough. FAC round 3 PDF Print E-mail

Not a lot to be learned from this 3rd round FAC tie v Peterborough, a professional performance from the Mighty Spurs as you would imagine we comfortably won this game at a canter. Surely this game will put an end to the speculation of Alan Hutton as a THFC player, clearly out of his depth even against a team bottom of the Championship he brings very little to our squad and his time has come to move on. AH continues to flatter and then fail miserably when receiving the ball, we all knew that without Arron Lennon we would suffer from a lack of pace on the right flank and AH did nothing to rectify that deficiency, all he could do was to cut inside every time he moved forward and narrowed our field of attack, he takes too long each time he gets the ball, always seems to get the ball and want two or three seconds to decide what to do and ends up cutting inside every time anyway, easy for even a poor championship defence to deal with and clearly not up to the standard demanded for the vigour’s of a top 4 club and CL football.

Robbie Keane I’m afraid must now join the list of players who no longer have any future at WHL, everything about RK yesterday was wrong, no passion, no drive, and certainly no commitment, even when he finally got on the score sheet late into the game from the penalty spot he couldn't’t even raise a smile and celebrate in joyous fashion, certainly to be one of his last appearances in a THFC jersey if not THE last, move on Robbie to a lesser team were you can again gain Iconic status Celtic probably being the best option, as you can no longer cut the mustard at WHL.

Gareth Bale put in a very reasonable performance being involved in two assists and should now push on with a succession of appearances during January and after this period we will all know a lot more about this lad and what he can finally offer the squad.

Another great performance from Niko Kranjcar capped by two fine goals, the first being a spectacular curling shot from twenty yards, pleasing to see him start alongside his fellow countryman Luka Modric for the 1st time in a Spurs line up, Luka got another valuable 90 minutes under his belt with a typical box to box performance, this boy has a wonderful engine and appetite for the game that will surely lead us to greater times.

Michael Dawson put in what has now become a very reliable and assured shift, reading the game easily and commanding respect from the rest of the team giving Hurelleo Gomes added confidence between the sticks, Wilson Pallacios sitting in front of Daws policing the midfield ready to pounce on any threat and break up play gives us a solid spine and allowed us to now go 5 games without conceding, although HG had a quiet game he was called on to make two very fine saves which is always the sign of a great keeper to keep concentrating during these types of games.

The opposition provided the fans with a typical challenge that you would expect from a Championship team, bags of effort and commitment and for that they cannot be faulted. If this was a chance for players to show their talent in the Transfer Window then young Joe Lewis will have drawn a lot of admirers from his heroic performance today, Harry is already aware of this young emerging keeper and has had him watched this season, he alone kept the Posh in this game in the 1st half producing a string of very fine saves, commanding his area with confidence and reducing the risk of going further behind and avoiding what could easily been another ‘Wigan Result’
Harry could do a lot worse that sign young Joe as his back up keeper and surely he will go on to a full England career.

Roman Pavlyuchenko came on as a sub to rousing support from the Spurs crowd and although he has not appeared in many games for us this campaign his popularity with the fans remains intact, as always the fans at WHL will appreciate a skillful player and there is no denying RP has plenty and is a great goal scorer but could this be one of his last games for us? We will all have to wait and see what January brings us, overall another very fine performance and we move on to the fourth round, let's hope for another home draw.
