these are the thoughts of our burnley friend nonaynever!
wat is more important to u as a fan? staying in the league or playing the good football u are accustomed to seeing?
The most important thing is staying up but Coyle has shown that he will not compromise the style he believes in. Although this can result in us getting turned over by stronger oppostion at times I agree with mentality that attack is the best form of defence. He has ensured that our defence is now more solid and it has been a long time since we have had a back four we can rely on, but there are now players waiting to come in when needed in those positions too which is something we have always lacked in recent seasons.
if ur away form is poor throughout the season do u think u wil earn enough points from ur home games to stay in the league?
I think they could be enough, we need to reach 40 points and that is certainly achievable on results at home. However, there are some away games where we need to be picking up points too ..... our neighbours down the road being one of them next month.
do u think last seasons carling cup semi final will add an extra bit of bite to this fixture for both teams?
I think it will be fresh in the mind of Redknapp and he is not going to underestimate the kind of game we can give Spurs on our day. It's doubtful that anyone is hurting on missing out on the cup final though after what we have gone on to achieve since then.
do u think owen coyle will still be ur manager next season?
Yes, undoubtedly. He has resisted the lure of Celtic and other than one of the big 4 teams coming calling that was possibly the biggest test of his loyalty to us. If we go down then rumours will circulate, but he has said he is here to see it through and he has proven that so far.
who do u see as the dangermen for both teams this weekend?
I think our most dangerous players are in midfield, if Spurs stop the service from Blake and Elliott we might struggle up front. Chris Eagles influenced Saturdays game massively when he came on, we were crying out for someone to run at the players. I am hoping that Fernando Guerrerro does enough tommorow against Barnsley to play some part too, he looks very exciting and he has'nt been given enough time on the pitch in the premier league yet.
For Spurs, you always have to be wary of Keane, Lennon can be a threat on his day but Defoe is the main man. He has been on fire this season and is a very dangerous player. Hopefully he will have a stinker.
What do you make of the FA's new "homegrown" rule? How will it affect you? Who do you think it will have the worst effect on? Do you think it will drastically change the league?
I don't think it is going to change anything, if anything it encourages teams to continue to sign young foreigners. Look at the boys at United Rafael and Fabio , they qaulify as homegrown next season. I also found it a strange coincidence how the figure is 8 , exactly the number Chelsea and Liverpool currently have. I think this was taken into consideration. The rule is too flawed and open to exploitation. It won't affect us, but I doubt it will affect anyone else either.
Do you have any players that you fear losing to bigger teams in the upcoming transfer windows
I don't think anyone is getting any attention yet, we seem to be looked at as a team rather than individuals. He has'nt proven himself yet but if Guerrero comes through and fulfills the potential he shows we may struggle to keep him with him only being on loan , first option or not.
After last seasons brilliant CC run do you think you will opt out , in favour of trying to keep EPL football , or go for both?
Owen has been resting players , cups are not a priority this season. Last season we needed the money from the cups, we needed it more than mostof us imagined and getting into the premier league has secured the finances. Even our own fans did not realise how tight money was until it was revealed pre season how close to the brink we were. It will be interesting to see how Owen approaches the FA Cup but I think we all know the priority lies in securing our place in the top flight.
what are ur opinions on harry redknapp and his management style?
Triffic at times. I think he is a very clever manager, particularly financially. I remember reading about him owning properties and often signing players, moving them into his properties and having them pay him rent ! He is financially astute but at times has made some crazy signings or, as in Nugents case , not given them a chance. Seems like he is leaving Pavlyuchenko out in the cold at the moment too ?
where do u predict spurs and burnley will end up in the league table this season?
I think you have a good chance of breaking into the top four this season, I fancy Chelsea to win the league, they look solid. United 2nd and then 3rd and 4th are between yourselves, Liverpool and Arsenal. Possibly Villa. I'll say you'll make 4th though based on your strong start (other than against Chelsea).
For us, I think 17th is the place we would all be happy with, but I'm gonna be optimistic and say 16th
If you could have 3 Spurs players for your squad who would you pick?
Defoe, Lennon and I rate Pavlyuchenko highly
what is ur prediction for the match?
can't see us doing it at White Hart Lane but we will be no pushover, 2-1 or even 3-1 to Spurs in a tight game. We do need to pick up some points away soon though, for confidence if anything
