Apparently king is playing both manchester games. Would be a huge lift for us as he is immense at the back. However, if kaboul was to play then i think he could handle rooney. He has really improved recently and was very solid against hearts.

Anderson vs Modric - one winner, modric has that all day. Hope he will be fit.
Ashley young battle will be interesting. Walker impressed me more defensively that attacking last night (hearts) which was a first. I thought corluka was going to play against united but as he was not playing last night, i know doubt that. Anyone think corluka will start? Anyway, young is always a tough player to play against but lennon always does well helping out defensively and obviously attacking. Close call that one.

Another key battle i would say is evans-defoe. Defoe has looked good pre season and played solid against hearts. Evans hasn't been getting a lot of game time and hopefully that will work in our favour.

Sorry to add another but bale vs smalling (although i cant see smalling playing right back against bale) so possibly fabio? It'll be interesting to see whether fabio uses the same tactics as his twin and go tight against bale.

Looking forward to game and for the first time in a while am very optimistic about getting something out of it.

Hmm, I don't share your optimism tbh.. no doubt he was great at Hearts, but it's one thing taking care of John Sutton of Hearts, and another with Rooney..

I do think that he has improved immensely however, but if he is too play, it won't be anywhere near 'easy' me thinks..

i think anderson is a better player than we give him credit for and will be a big part of utds midfield this season,however if modders is on top form theres not a midfielder in the league that can cope with him.i think this is our best chance to beat utd in 20 years,and as long as the ref doesnt bottle it i think we will win,strong statement i know but i just have a feeling that week off was the best thing that could have happened and with the hearts result confidence should be high

Here's hoping he won't join the Alex Ferguson "Kiss my Ass" club like Webb and Clattenburg.
