I really like Gio, but I can see why he's not playing. We've won our first 3 games this season, it would be ridiculous to start changing the team around at this stage.
Can someone answer me the question, why the hell don't we have a reserve team this year??
Once again people are putting way too much into this reserve team business.
We do have a reserve team, we just are not playing in the reserve league. That only accounts for between 12 &16 games per season (the reserve league is regional, so its size depends on the number of southern teams playing in the Premier League).
If we had been in the reserve league we would've only just played 1 game so far this season & that would've probably only been today (on the 25th. The reserve league south only kicked off yesterday, with a couple games played on monday & the rest today). If Harry intends to play many of those reserves in the Carling Cup, we would be screwed because if we had been in the reserve league they would be playing a game on tuesday & then another (the CC) on Wednesday. I'd rather they played in a proper competitive game that actually means something, like the CC, than in the reserve league.
This way we are not tied to the schedule. We can play some players who may otherwise have been involved in the reserve league in the Carling Cup instead & we can always organise an extra friendly for a reserve team at a more suitable time for us.
Basically, we can't have both. If we want to play our reserves in the Carling Cup, they cannot play reserve league. I know which I'd rather

Ok, that makes sense, cheers for clearing that up for me mate.
Thats honestly the first I've heard about us not being in the reserve league, and didnt realise it accounted for only 12-16 games.
Will be good to see them get a run-out in the CC.
agreed, but this means the opposition can also be more lethal, on sunday we needed thudd helping palacios out in the middle, im not convinced we'd get that cover with modders in the middle and gio on the left. and given the choice its modric ahead of gio all day for me. hope he fulfills his potential with us tho, I really wana see him perform at the lane!
