king doesnt have an england career. its as simple as that. how can he contribute in a tournament? even as cover? we would have to have cover for him aswell. it just cannot work

he is such a great player but its a tricky one i admit.. personally i dont see why a pay-per-play contract would be unfair on king, infact i think its tailor made for a player with kings problems. i know hes been at spurs a long time but in all honesty i think he would have been snapped up by the one of the best clubs in the world without the knee problem

Maybe if he received a salary with decent pay-as-you-play bonuses but I really don't think it is fair reducing King to a completely Pay-as-you-play contract. The club will continue to use his name & status to sell shirts & promote Spurs & I know that I would expect a decent proportion of that money if it were me. Anyone making money off of someone else would have to pay for it or else they are effectively financially abusing that person. After the length of time King has been with us & the amount of money & notoriety Spurs have already afforded from him being at the club, I think it would be very unfair of us not to offer him some sort of security if we intend him to stay with us.

Right firstly King is going no where except Tottenham, why? well its soley because he will never ever pass a medical at any other club with his dodgey knees!

I love King to bits he represents everything I love about Spurs, passion and commitment is undeniable however he has got toget real and admit his days of playing regular football for both club and country are long gone.
I think he owes Spurs that commitment to retire from international duty and concentrate on making Spurs great again, definetly give King a new contract give the lad everything he asks for but he has to anounce that Spurs come first.

I agree Yid.no1 & I don't think retiring from International football is that big a deal. He can always come out of retirement in the future should circumstances permit.

Like you say, we need to commit to him but he must also commit to us.

I fear this is the press making mountains out of molehills however.

When you think about the money we've spent in recent years on players, agents and managers I think it would be an absolute disgrace if we didn't offer our club captain a decent deal.

On his day, King is still one of the top centrebacks in the league, if not Europe. We pay tens of thousand a week for the likes of Rocha, Gilberto, Bentley etc NOT to play and yet we are rumoured to be haggling over the price of the most loyal player this club has known since Gary Mabbutt?!!! Let's hope it's just rumours...

Agree totally, King is an assett to the club, but his injury has both him and the club trapped. He would not pass a medical, so could not join another team, and the club will not get a trandfer fee. We all know levy is tight with the clubs money, and haggles over every deal, and in this case he has the upper hand.

1 year contracts with a guarenteed coaching contract once the decision to play no more is made.
