Standing back to the flying-in-tackle guy and shielding the ball is a suicide. Nobody needs his "bravery" if he lies in a bed till the end of the season

I don't know if it was suicidal, he could not have known Davis was gonna come in quite like that! Pav actually turned him superbly well & was unlucky to get caught so bad.

However, he was lucky he did not come off worse. At one point I was thinking that his season might be over!
      Jan Vertonghen!
      Vertonghen is his name!
      Spurs will never ever-ever,!
      lose again!

Pavlyuchenko, meanwhile, was also forced off during a tough test for Harry Redknapp's men after being poleaxed by Pompey midfielder Sean davis

The Russian striker admits to being in excruciating pain as he was stretchered from the field, but has welcomed the news that he has suffered no long-term damage

"When it happened the pain was so unbearable that I feared the worst," he told the Sport Express

"But fortunately it turned out to be just a huge bruise on my shin. Thank God, the bones are intact.
"The medics told me I'm going to miss one game definitely - and maybe more

"With the corner of my eye I saw Davis flying to crash into me. I did everything to get to the ball first. In the English Premier League you won't make it into the squad if you pull your legs away fearing tackles."

he wont make the burnley game lads by the sound of this!

"in the english premier league you wont make it into the squad if you pull your legs away fearing tackles" that 1 sentence is why i love this guy so much anytime he has been interviewed sincehe joined the club every statement has expressed that he is learning more and more about the epl and the way the players go on and how different its to what hes used to i know in some games he can go missing and that hes not going to dribble around 6 players and stick it in the top corner but his williness to learn and is hunger to do well is a breath of fresh air if im honest and he will only get better next season

We should have the same system as they do in Rugby for these types of tackles. Davis will continue on his merry way with the yellow he got, but he should be banned for a number of games. The ref got it completely wrong.
