I have seen this happen before - some players thrive in particular circumstances. This might not be Bentley's circumstance.

thats exactly my problem with the guy....he just isnt giving it his all! hes strolling around the pitch like he has a god given right to be there! i see the smaller guys like modric getting stuck in and getting the crap kicked outta them but still throwing themselves into the next challenge....we all know wat bentley is capable of but hes never gonna deliver if he doesnt start putting the workrate in!

i dont like being so hard on him cause he does come across as a likeable character and i really hope he can turn it around but right now i just cant see it happening!

Honestly don't think there is any comparison between the two. For an outfield player to have been on such a bad run for such a long time..... He's only had one good game that I've seen in half a season. Simply not good enough, even with the shocking start to the season.

Besides that, I don't see Bentley being ripped to shreds by the media, which Gomes most certainly was.
