Hmm...

I am bitterly disapointed and part's of me are thinking "this is just like every other season as a spurs fan". However i still have high hopes.. We were never gonna be able to play great football throughout the whole season. We all knew that eventually we would play a shocking game like this, all teams do.

I guess it happening 1st game of season kinda sucks but we shouldn't get to fickle. We have sunderland at home on the 24th and i am gonna try and look at that as out 1st game and that the **** i saw the other day was a reality check for the players and dare i say it... us the fans.

Offtopic it sais the score was 2-0 on the spurs site.

I do find it a little disconcerting that you are not prepared to give Boro any credit for the result yesterday.

However, from reading posts on here, I see huge parallels between you spurs fans and us Boro fans.

Every year we look forward to the start of the season, with renewed optimism, a few decent signings, and "This year is gonna be the year" mentality. .

Then the season takes shape . . we beat a few of the "Top teams", then get beat by the Readings and West Broms of the league, and end up mid table. . . ahh well. . maybe next year. .

BUT, this season I genuinely think that Gareth Southgate has hit upon the formula thats gonna give us a good season. . He has slowly but surely assembled a Pacy, hungry, skilled young team and has chopped out all of the foreign journeymen just after a last big payday. . . We now have a squad who are all busting to play for the shirt, with enough locals to know what it means. .

Now I can hear you all cynical tw**s, "yeah, yeah, yeah". well come April time either I will be in here with a big grin, or be here listening to all the "I told you so's"

Heres hoping for a good season for both of us. . .

Nice to see a boro fan on the forum. I have always had alot of time for boro for some reason. I went up to watch them a few times last season as well. Clearly boro deserve credit for the win on saturday. However them playing well doesn't really concern us (the spurs fans) too much because as far as we see it, spurs should be beating boro when they are playing really well. Kudos for coming onto the forums..

I got nothing but respect for you smoogieboon and I think you are right, southgate has assembled a good squad and they do look hugry much hungrier than we do our players dont even look complacent they just look like they have the contract they wanted and now dont give a toss.

I think now mido has his hair back he will play better, he must be like samson... cut of his main and he loses all his power

Not knocking ya smoogie just saying what i thought, you guys impressed me to be honest. I suppose i was just still p!ssed at our lacklustre performance.

Still think above 10th will be a great finish for ya (and for us on saturdays showing).

Pompey, Villa, us and the big 4 should be scrapping for the top 7 in the end but we will see i guess.

Same old same old. Let's hope we can get things going quicker than last year - starting with an end to the Berba saga. Still think we can beat the Arse after their woeful performance against WBA and poach that 4th spot.

Well to be honest its nice to go onto an opposing teams forum where the vast majority of posters have a good football knowledge, and genuinely want to discuss the merits/shortcomings of both teams without it degenerating into farce and name calling. . This is one of the better forums in this respect. . . we're all football fans at the end of the day. . . I think after reflecting for a couple of days, and watching the match again, you have huge grounds for thinking you can have a very good season. . You do play very good football, but individual errors cost you dearly. . . If the Berbatov transfer doesnt materialise, and you can keep him, then I think you will be a genuine threat to the 3 or 4 teams outside the top four. . .

I would also like to see Ramos learn better English, as it seems from the outside that Gus Poyet is doing all the PR and it leaves your club open to criticism it doesnt need. .

You are right when you say a top ten finish would be a good finish for us, and anything else would be a bonus.

BTW, it was good to see a nice full away contingent from London at the weekend, it made for a great atmosphere, and your fans have been praised on local radio phone-ins for their good behaviour.

I couldn't understand why King didnt play? If he was fit enough for the bench then he should have played or been left out altogether...Dawson had a shocker unfortunately...wrong side of Mido...basic defending errors...
But we are good at home so let's keep the glass half full and put this one down to a bad day at the office...bring on the mackems this weekend!

They (mackems) will be rampant. All those ex yids and they were the real workers of our side to be honest. We will get spanked if we have the same mentality next weekend.

They were unlucky this weekend and will be after some points for sure.

we have only played 1 game but right from the start top 6 is the best we should hope for but i wish for more

Well Liverpool didn't look too great and neither did Arsenal but none of the teams really have all of their players yet for different reasons

And P Unit is right all of our ex players will be out to show us that we they have the quality so an overhaul of the line-up and a seriously serious and committed effort will be necessary on Saturday.

I also have great respect for Roy Keane.
