Not good enough.
Extremely disappointing, was really gutted when I found out about this, but at least we've seen the young lads are capable of competing with the best in the world. The players will know this themselves too. Great tournament.
And hey, we leave the tournament undefeated, right?
If you're an All Whites fan, this can be a great thing to harp on about!
An inquiry into how this happened and how it must not happen again must be instigated forthwith .
There must be specialist systems in place to ensure that a player does not play before a ban is up and things like payments are made when a player makes so many appearances or plays for his country , so this cannot be so difficult .
Did someone not like you know, check his birth certificate or passport?
Absolutely gutting, shouldn't have owned up, these lads deserved to go and play Barca or Ajax.
Tottenham and Liverpool are involved in a row on the eve of their Premier League confrontation at Anfield on Monday night.
The bust-up arose after Liverpool lodged a protest about Spurs fielding two ineligible players during the NextGen Under-19s quarter-final last week, which the Londoners won by the only goal.
Rather than contest the issue, Spurs withdrew, handing Liverpool a semi-final tie against Barcelona or Ajax. But there is anger at White Hart Lane at Liverpool’s behaviour.
Spurs unknowingly fielded two under-age players in the game in which Liverpool included players recruited for substantial transfer fees.
A Spurs statement said: ‘It is with regret that we have decided to withdraw from the NextGen tournament due to an accidental breach of a competition regulation’.
Tim Sherwood, Tottenham’s technical co-ordinator and manager of their NextGen team, said: ‘It is disappointing.’
Mark Warburton, head of football for NextGen, said: ‘This is unfortunate. However, we can only applaud Tottenham for demonstrating such impeccable levels of sportsmanship.’
We fielded these players in the earlier rounds of the competition.......according to JJetset
Steven Caulker is the messiah!
Liverpool are such sore losers. We may be out but we still beat them with underaged players. LOL
Bummer but we showed that our youngsters are ready to play against the big boys. Bring everyone on next year.

Bit pathetic of Liverpool only side to lodge a complaint? It appears we breached this rule in previous rounds and perhaps as many as five other sides may have also breached this rule (and other rules in Villa's case) makes a mockery of the tournament in some ways.
However there's no excuse ... we knew the rules and broke them, we deserve credit for putting our hands up and withdrawing the team but that's a case of 'closing the stable door' ... won't happen again I'm sure just a shame for the lads to miss out on a semi against Barca ....
“Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.”
So we used 2 ineligible players against them ? What a bunch of sore losers that lot are, especially if more teams have broken the rules. Who were the 2 ineligible players we played against them then ? I wonder if the other isnt Milos Veljkovic as we havent heard anything about him on thfc official site. I mean as if it wasnt enough having to sit through that way over biased commentary on the feed i was watching, now the barca fans got to put up with that.
Our team was weaker and still done them only Sterling is decent and hes not even their product 5mil from QPR pricks. So they had this planned all along should they lose and Ngoo is the black Peter Crouch!

Liverpool FC through to Semi-Finals after Tottenham Withdraw from the Tournament
We can announce today that Tottenham Hotspur have decided to withdraw from the semi finals of the NextGen Tournament following an inadvertent breach of a competition regulation.
A spokesperson for the NextGen Series, said:
“Following conversations with senior Tottenham Hotspur officials, we have agreed to accept their withdrawal from the semi final stages of the event.
This is hugely unfortunate and we are sorry to see that such a hard fought encounter as witnessed at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night should have this conclusion. However, we can only applaud the Club for demonstrating such impeccable levels of sportsmanship and for acting in a manner which recognises the good spirit of both the Tournament and the game itself. We thank both clubs for their help and support in making this first year of the event such a success and we look forward to welcoming Liverpool to the semi-finals.”
Liverpool Football Club will now progress to the semi final stage where they will face the winners of the FC Barcelona versus Ajax encounter which takes place next week, 8th February 2012.
Tottenham Hotspur will return to the NextGen Series next season.

Proud of the club for the way they handled this, however it should never have been allowed to happen in the first place.
