amen yidington! the 'are levy and redknapp tossers?' thread just after the summer kind of puts it into prospective a bit, as we sit in 3rd, 12 points above le arse
this is very much the same, a repeat knee jerk reaction

You may have been in the minority for not questioning any of those signings mate but I don't see why everyone's jumping straight at the negatives.
Brad, Scott, Gallas all aging & the majority complained about these and asked what they'd bring to the side - we know how well they've done. The Admiral & Saha at least have the correct attitude and are cheap cover.
Ade, Gallas - people were complaining about bad attitudes, past teams, negative influences - wrong again. The two new boys seem positive so far and again they have experience and calming influence in training & in the dressing room.
Kaboul - people were saying he wasnt good enough first time round, no potential etc etc he's improved amazingly. well granted these two haven't got much potential left at their ages but they've not been brought in as Marque signings, they're cheap, decent cover that helps the wage bill and whilst the squad is trimmed for a (hopefully) stunning summer window.
We were never gonna get CL game-changing players in this window as the prices & wages are too high. Most of the players are still playing in the CL knockout rounds and were unlikely to give it up in exchange for Stevenage away in the FA Cup.
This is not meant as a dig at you mate, just starting to get annoyed with every declaring it a disaster window, when I actually think we should at least give the players a chance.
We didn't need to sign anyone this window, our first team is about as solid as it could be without spending absolutely ludicrous money, well over market rates.
What we did do was get rid of a couple of players who were chewing up wages and bringing down morale. We replaced them with cheap, yet experienced players who are willing to do the job that has been asked of them.
I don't see how this window can be viewed as anything but an unmitigated success to be honest. Perhaps if we'd managed to see off dos Santos too, it might have been better.

I think I need to emphasize my point again. I have absolutely no criticism on selling Pav, or loaning Bassong, Pienaar, Corluka out. Those guys wanted to play but they could not break into our first 11, so we reduced our 6 months payroll. That's a nice business deal, agreed.
I was not expecting any big transfers neither. The winter transfers are most of the time costly, you pay double for any player, so I'm not really fond of bringing big names in January. Considering our finances and a new stadium on the horizon, not splashing the cash was nice.
I also have nothing to say about signing Nelsen. I know that wherever he plays, he performs at 100%. Would his 100% be sufficient or not is another discussion, but considering that he's gonna be the 5th option at CB, signing him was a nice deal too.
My only concern is Saha. You guys keep saying that he wants to be here, he has a great attitude, etc.. We've been watching this lad in PL for 10 years. I really dont agree with these comments. He showed multiple times how selfish he can be. He had issues with Fulham and Everton managers when they sit him in bench. His attitude towards Moyes last year as well as the start of this season was disrespectful, he talked against a manager who has supported him throughout years. I'm sure he would cause problems in Man Utd too if their manager was not a legend, he just could not talk there.
Now, you believe what you want to believe by saying that he wants to be here (who does not really? any player outside the top6-7 teams wants to be here. We are 3rd and in a title challenge, we are not 10 years ago's Spurs who battles for middle table) and he has a great attitude. This is his what 3rd 4th day in the club, do you really expect him to say "oh man what I'm doing here, Spurs suck as a team, I love Arsenal"?
On the other hand, I believe on the facts I listed above. 6 months may not be enough time to cause issues, but if he stays later on he'll be a pain... I just hope that he proves me wrong, but if his presence distracts Defoe this deal would be a bad move.

@Maro you're right Saha has been a nob. But look at Gallas sitting on the pitch throwing a strop for Le arse. Adebayor famously a complete twat at arsenal & city. But we've not seen a glimpse if that here. I don't expect saha to score double figures, I barely expect him to play. But to say he's going to be trouble is not giving Arry enough credit at what he does best - manage people.
