Bentley is an interesting prospect though... you figure we love crossing the ball into the box, Azza is often crocked. If we wanted to do a true 4-4-1-1 and Lennon wasn't available, it's really Niko vs. Bentley. Niko can play on the right, but it's not his best and he'll cut inside a lot, could run into trouble playing alongside Rafa. Doesn't Bentley at least get a look if Lennon is out and we want to keep VDV in the hole?
Depends on how well Niko plays when he gets a chance. Bentely wont be back for 6 more weeks, add in an extra week to get match fit (play a reserve game) you're looking at late March/early April. Dont know how big a role he'll play with a month left in the season but he could get a look in if there are injuries.Originally Posted by StPaulSpur

Interesting that we no longer have a number 9, I have expected it to be given to Saha. Let's hope that it has been reserved for a worth (not that Pav was worthy) successor in the summer. I also thought that Dawkins and Bentley were surprise but not really significant inclusions, as I think that they are only there to fill the 25 the squad list. That said I wouldn't be averse to Bentley being given a run out once he has regained his fitness as he may well be able to do a job for us if/when Azza gets injured (love or hate him, Bentley can certainly cross the ball and even has a decent eye for goal when on form).

i didn't know aboot khumalo, bentley and dawkins though. i thought we had trimmed down to a 22 man squad.
even without them, that 22 is pretty funk on good lol! great effort by all at the club!
Bentley and Dawkins are both English probably named to make up the homegrown players...

Although Bentley not being back until April might be a blessing as if by then Azza & Niko are tiring (or completely fooked) its a pair of fresh legs to help us on the final run in.
Say what you will about Bentley, but that'll be like a new signing come April
There are still quite a few that were loaned out and need to be shifted in the summer (Corluka, Bassong), some that we couldn't find a buyer for (Dos Santos, Gomes, Bentley) and then some that we couldn't give away (Khumalo, Dawkins, Alnwick - who didn't even make the 25 this time) but the summer has all of the makings of a big one for us! Though I guess we have to take into account the fact that Rose and Walker will have to be part of the 25 next year.
We struggled last year with Champions League and league games so hopefully we will have a squad that 'arry is 'appy/confindent enough with to rotate...
now i know know why we dont score a lot of goals!

Munure have listed Vidic although he is out for the season .
That's another point about this roster: Last year there were five guys that regularly made us tear out our hair: Jenas, Gomes, Pav, Crouch, and Bassong. The only one left is Gomes and he's our third choice goalie. We haven't (yet) brought in permanently that top notch striker who bangs in 15 a year, year-in-year-out, but we've managed to cut a lot of the excess fat we had without losing any of the top class quality. That's huge, in itself.
