No, you are quite right, he was pretty poor again. Deployed - ostensibly - on the right wing he didn't really get into the game very much. I'll write in more detail in the morning in the match report and perhaps Vancouver can add his views, but frankly, not a praiseworthy performance from Boateng.

We did scrape it in the second half. The customary domination in the first half then sitting back and sitting back and sitting back, just inviting pressure on. So frustrating.

Ah well, United away in any case! And at the third time of asking my mate Patrick's been to a game against Reading with me and seen us win!

To be brief, this is my take on our performance last night....

I thought Boateng was poor. But to be fair, although we reatained a great deal of possession and controlled the game for large period, there were few players that really excelled.

Chris Gunter looked very composed, and did well. Wont be in any rush to get #44 on the back of my shirt though!

Chimbonda was particularly mediocre, and looked like he would rather be elsewhere. I too, would rather he be elsewhere.

Having said all that I couldn't see us losing and thought Fettucini in the Reading goal had a solid game (despite not being able to kick for toffee) a fine save from Defoe, and an incredible stop from Steed in the second period.

      Job done.

Wierd isn't it how TV can be deceptive. Watching the highlights on match of the day it actually looked like Boateng had a decent game.

I was getting my hopes up!

      BBC/iplayer service perhaps?

Haven't tried it myself yet. Supposed to be able to watch any BBC programme from the last seven days.
