Yes, the current formation sucks.
No, I like the 4-4-2 and Harry tactics are spot on
WTF. Who are you? I don't really care imho...
Yeah we definitely need another defender and hopefully O'Hara can fill in what is missing in midfield.
What like he has done so admirably in the absence of Rooney?
We can't play 4-5-1 with either Defoe or Crouch as they would not be able to hold the ball up long enough! Simple as, possibly Pav would be able to do it, but as he is going to fook off at the end of the season, and who can blame him? There is not much chance of that happening.
4-3-3 What like we did in Ardiles's reign, just trading goals and keeping our fingers crossed that we will score 1 more than our opponents, ffs I have heard it all now.
What difference would 4-5-1 have made yesterday? Why can't we see that Pompey are sh1t and if we had played anything like to our potential we would have won easily.
The players need to take a long hard look at themselves cos they let us all down, no amount of discussion about formations, pitches, refereeing decisions, or quiet crowd however well intentioned is going to change our basic problem and that ultimately comes down to attitude.
Some clubs have it some don't, we will see which camp we fall into during the last few games of the season.
I've said this before, formations should be able to be changed throughout a game
we need to build this team that gets the best out of Modders. to me he seems a bit wasted at the moment.
We just need a top quality striker with movement and the goals will come.
Except when he was at Portsmouth, when he ran a 4-5-1, among other formations, to great effect.
As your post indicates, its really down to personnel. I don't agree with this media-driven canard that somehow Harry doesn't understand tactics. Of course he knows how to run a 4-5-1. Hell, I know how to run a 4-5-1. So, judging by your posts, do you and several others on this thread.
We're not talking about building a hadron supercollider here. Problem is getting players for whom such a system is ideal, and they're not always available, especially last summer. I don't think we have the striker for it now, tbh, but I agree that we need to make it an option in the future.
Those footy manager screenshots remind me of my game though I haven't tried the 2nd one.
We don't have a complete striker for playing with one up front though and I don't see Harry getting one in (unless Pav and Keane go and Harry puts Defoe and Giraffe on the bench (fat chance)).
Plus our midfielders aren't very accurate on goal.
So while it would allow us to play Modders, Lennon and Kranky and still have some kind of defence who would score the goals?
COYS!
the current formation and tactic really sucks...i would like to see more team play...iv seen only flashes of it...
None of our strikers are good enough to play up-front on their own.
To play like that, we would need to buy a new striker, and a top, top class one at that.
I dont really think its time for a change so much, but we do need the ability to be flexable and change our formation when needed. I think while Lennon's been out, is when we've needed to be able to adjust because the 4-4-2 that we play needs at least one pacey, direct winger. The 4-4-2 is typically English and requires fast, direct play...with no pace this isnt working as well as it could, or did with Lennon.
defoe.. cant play by him self, and not a good all around striker.. crouch. cant play by himself. pav, has the ability. but needs the workrate.. we need a player that can do it all like rooney, tevez, torres, drogba.. a player that can create goals. score. and help the team in every aspect...
pardon my ignorance, but as much as I admire Barcelona and their football, I love the way traditional spurs football is, and that is built around a 4-4-2 formation. However, the point of a 4-5-1 formation with an OMF could be argued was an effective place to put Keano. If I were to play a 4-5-1, then it would look like this
---Gomes---
--- Corluka --- Dawson --- King --- Bale ---
------ W. Palacios ------
------ Huddlestone ------
------- Lennon --------------------- Modric---------
----------Keane/Gud---------
---Defoe---
It's been my life, Tottenham Hotspur;
and I love the Club
