Well the man is just putting up a last fight really sad about all that happened to them, Id rather loose to a good team than win over a weakened foe.

Leader of the Spurtles.
All I think every time I hear anything about Portsmouth's situation is "Thank f**k for Daniel Levy"
Avram Grant To Field Weakened Teams?......
I thought that he had been doing this all season!!!
My favourite spurs player!
Stick it to the man, Avram!

Easy 3 points against us then and if we get to FA cup semi, Jamie (their best player) aint playing so thank you Avram, we have already beat you at Wembley before anyway!
In a world full of City's and United's...there is only one Hotspur
They can do what they fookin want.
I care not for that joke of a club. I hope they do fold, I know it isnt possible now but I wouldnt have shed a tear if it would have.
I want O'hara back with us fighting for a place in our team or increasing his price tag if they aint gonna play him right.
Foook them and they bell ringing poxy fans.
We could do with him tomorrow!

Well that is stupid on any number of levels. As they will get fined by the preimer league and also lose revenue from dwindling gate recipts.
I think you are missing the point here - the reason for Grant threatening to field weakend teams is to keep his best team fit for the FA Cup. The points deduction means Portsmouth are inevitably relegated, so Grant is going for a trophy that Pompey can still win!
There are already reported rumblings re what will happen if he fields weakened teams - but financially winning the FA Cup (with it's Europa League qualification as well) would cover any lost gate revenue at Fratton Park in the last games of the season.
Grants seriously gone down in my estimations since he took over the reigns at Portsmouth. What did he expect the rest of the Premier League Chairman to do? each chuck £5m in the pot and keep pompey alive.
We all have sympathy with supporters in these situations, but everything happens for a reason. In this case, mismanagement for the owners right down to the bus driver who was on £45,000 PA.
Storey, raking in £1m a year, being party to all the transfers, wages etc. that have got them i the shit, then walking away! Tosser!
Grant was holding 'crisis talks' with the players yesterday to dicsuss the best way forward, hope he got the same positive response he got when he asked them to take a wage cut to save the club. I think 2 players stepped forward and 60+ jobs go as a consequence.
Mick Mcartrhy was warned after the Wolves/Man U game about fielding a weakened side, im sure they'll have a quiet word with pompey with this in mind.
Who cares what team they put out, if we get through we should wallop them anyway.
Whats the big deal here, the "BIG 4" play weakened teams whenever they have Chmp Lge games coming up all the time but its ok with the FA as it improves the reputation of English Footy in Europe and indeed the World but if your name is Mc Carthy or Grant you simply cannot do it..oh no....
As for "resting World Cup squad players" this just doesn't make sense, after the transfer period there was talk of Portsmouth selling their "Star Players" utilising a "get out " clause for teams in their position, at this point it was highlighted that they would not be eligible to play for any new teams this season,if they had been sold this in turn would rule them out of playing themselves into position for their respective world cup squads. The proposal to rest them is in fact the same thing at this stage as the money won't make much difference and they may not make their respective squads which is all they realistically have to play for this season.
But back to the original issue, why can the likes of The Fat Spanish Waiter get away with fielding weakened teams, didn't the bindippers field a weakened team for half the season anyway...!!!
So much for a weakened team...A weakened team would not have consisted of Kanu, O'Hara etc. Was it all said to psych-out Iain Dowie? Great fight by Pompey - it is still mathematically possible for them to stay up though...isn't it?
