I think Defoe has taken his game to another level this season. He was a good player before (3/5 on a scale), now he is very good (4/5). If he shines at the WC he could take another step and become world class. Doubt this will happen though, Rooney is certain to start for England. But you never know.

IMO Defoe is behind Rooney, Drogba and Torres in the PL. Those three are world class strikers.

I must add that I love the "little magician" as ive dubbed him. Many of the goals he scores are spectacular. In the past he was a great scorer of goals, now hes become a great goalscorer too. Hope he stays with us for a long time, a Spurs legend in the making.

I agree with you, and the main difference for me is the physical strength of Rooney Torres and Drogba, not JD's fault he cannot help his size but still a very important factor.

Swanny hit the nail on the head! Rooney & Drogba have the strength to take challenges and muscle players off the ball....For all Defoe's skill, he's still a lightweight, by comparison.

If we had a chance of a swop deal not one of us would keep Defoe over Rooney ffs what a stupid comment to make, i can only sumise this was done to boost Defoe's confidence.
