The pole speaks for itself lol 18 vs 4. I think whoever we have as a perminant centre back will end up partnering Bassong purly because of injuries.
Now who would you rather Bassong and King, Bassong and Woody or Bassong and Dawson.
I think i'd prefer Bassong and Dawson, Daws can be quality when he gets a run in.
Ridiculous poll, he's one of the best defenders in the league and a bad defensive display against the Arse is hardly a sin.
Theres more to the poll than that guys.
Its more about how long Ledders can really last before we need to replace him, 'cos he aint gona last much longer. I think we need to get another Cb in
Controversial issue cos I'm sure everyone on this forum loves Ledley!
But I have to admit there are times when I find myself thinking should we renew his contract and so on......
Then he comes back in to the starting 11and usually plays a blinder and I think "WTF was I thinking of?" - a fit Ledley is the best CB in the Premier League.
And if I had the call I would protect him to make sure he was available for the games against Man U, Arseoles, Liverpool,Chelsea.
Again, it all comes down to his fitness!
But moving the thread on somewhat, having watched the game against Brazil I'm more than tempted to say Capello should include Led in the squad for South Africa.
OK - picture this - we are in the knock out stages, Terry or Ferdinand gets ruled out of the next game because of injury or a suspension - the next game could even be the final!
So who comes in for the next game?
Lescott????
Upson????
Wes Brown???
Who would you like to see there ?????????
Yehhhhhhhhhhh!
I love #Ledley but I think we need stability at the back and he can't give us that. Sorry, but I think he can't be counted on as a regular!![]()
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you ... you probably haven't a clue what's going on!
I say give him the games if he can get fit for them but for this season only and then perhaps a pay as you play scheme, we must look behond King im afriad and im gutted to say that as he is a true Spurs player in the mould of Mabbut perhaps.
If this was any other player he would have been asked to leave the club years ago but he has been imense for us and it will be a sad day whe he says enough is enoug but i still think we need him this season at least as Bassong and Daws can learn lots from the guy.
So In for now.
Not untill we find a better replacement.
BUT WE 100% NEED ONE NOW!!!
Whe he is fit he should play, but if an adequate replacement is found then I am afraid for the purposes of progresive continuity he will be slotted into a coaching/mentoring role.
I will abstain from voting at this juncture.
Great topic though.
I also abstain from this vote for the following reasoning; if he is injured then he is not selected so in theory he drops himself due to being unfit to play.
Swannydownthelane.....great times,great memories
Come On You SPURS
Ledley's fantastic when he plays, but we keep having to chop and change our defensive pairing, and I dont think thats very good for consistancy. Which is something I think we lack.
Its not just him though, our injury problems at the back have been ridiculous this season.
You have to hand it to him though. What an amazing athlete to be able to play the way he does with no knee cartilage and no proper training. The guy plays better then most of the Prem's CB's.
If King had knee's, he'd be one of the best defenders in Europe.
I dont know what to say. Im gutted that Ledley is no longer the captain because he is the only one in our current squad who are 100% Spurs. I used to pray that Ledley get rid of his injury problems but god aint listening (as usual) to me. At least he got to lift the League Cup at wembley, even if its a **** cup winning it means winning more than the majority of footballers get to. Id love us to win the FA-cup this season, Ledley scoring the game winner and then retiring with his head held high. If life was a movie it could end up that way. The man deserves it!
Born is the King, the king of White hart lane
Ledley King is his name, and long may he reign
Super Tottenham! The Football World Is OURS!
Well end this 2 year old thread on that note.
