Ok, we should buy crouch, we should have bought Downing as well.
      Yeah, great, exciting.

Only Michael Owen gets close (one goal every 155 minutes) ahead of Wayne Rooney (one every 164 minutes) and then there is Emile Heskey way back on one goal every 493 minutes he spends on the pitch for England.'

TBH Yes there are better players out there in the transfer market than Crouch, that are being linked with Spurs. But Crouch is a player with excellent ball skills and vision to do the unexpected and score goals. A talent we lacked last season.

Furthermore he scored one less goal than Bent last season but one more than Defoe and Keane.

tbh, bent spent around half to a quarter of his time on the bench and didnt finish most of the games he started, so id put money on him scoring more, but the crouch vs bent discussion is by the by......

personally i like crouch, i do, technically i think hes very good.....its just that i don't want him at spurs.......

if we have ambitions of becoming a constant top 6 team then surely we should be after top 6 players? i dont want players who are linked with sunderland and fulham, i want players who would walk into villas and evertons team and i just don't see crouch as that. at liverpool, although i feel he was a bit harshly treated, he imo seemed a bit out of his depth and that was at a team who would have more possesion and dominate games more than us.

at spurs, even though i know foreign players take more time to settle, i want a high class type of player as that is what we have always had (klinsman, berbatov etc), and the strikers in the epl who are avaliable to us just aren't that........

he does score that many goal....around 15 a season id say roughly (i dont know the stats) which does put a bit more pressure on defoe and keane to have outstanding seasons....and with pressure does come under performance. im not saying that peter is a hinderance to his strike partner, im just saying that in an area where we lacked last term (goal scoring) why would we get a player whos not very prolific??

like others have said, harry knows him and can get the best out of him, i would just like someone who will excite me more......

      I take your points...

I still firmly believe that if Harry signs Crouch instead of either Negredo or Huntelaar it is isnt showing a lack of ambition, its because he feels its for the good of the team.

I think Pavlyuchenko is a good player, but its clear that he doesnt work well with Defoe/Keane.

Crouch and Defoe is a partneship that flourished at a very average Pompey side... just imagine what damage it could do with Lennon tearing down the right, Luka creating (from whichever position we finally decide to play him!), maybe even Bentley whipping the ball in.. and i still believe Bentley can perform, particularly if we give him something to aim his crosses at in Crouch.

I would honestly be happy to sign crouch and get that partnership rocking

      I was thinking, peps!
If crouch is 12m why have we not bid yet? We can afford to pay 12m so im not convinsed harry really does want crouch. I think his making the tranfer stall a bit.
We all know we cant tap up but if peter crouch knows we are interested by harry talking on sky then his not going so sign for sunderland straight away. Meaning this gives more time for HR to deal with other transfers ie.. The 2 Real madrid Boys!

I am so with you Block32 and Roscono3... check out my hello thread from earlier today. Crouch would be a fantastic signing and I have been waiting for this ever since Harry came in. Defoe and Crouch had a great partnership at Pompy in a team whos midfield is not a creative as ours. They will score goals and lots of them. I said on that thread 25+ and I stick by that.

There is also something to be proud of should we achieve a european place this season with an english strikeforce... dont forget that should Crouch join he and Defoe will be eager to impress in a world cup year. I bet the same people here REALLY complaining would be singing the praises should Englands world cup 11 have an up top partnership from our mighty spurs.

£12 mil on Crouch is possibly even the better buy in my eyes... Huntelaar and Negrado would most likely see us as pit stops unless we achieved champions league football within the 1 or 2 years. Crouch is a PROVEN goalscorer and a great partner for people like defoe who lets face it is pretty damn selfish.

I was not talking about exciting transfers, I was talking about exciting players, players who have a cutting edge.
Made the point about Downing as he's a boring winger, unlike players like Young (I know we're not going to get him), Robben (also very long shot) and Maxi Rodriguez. We need players with more creativity, pace, power, strength.

However, I would welcome Crouch with open arms if he learnt the seal dribble off Kerlon

But Michael Owen was linked with Hull but Manure were not too proud to take him.

I think Crouch and Pav are too similar I'm afraid.

I ain't taking any account as to who is what nationality, but I believe Huntelaar and Negredo would offer us something different. Simple as that.

      Haha its Holiday ham mate!

Yeah I was happy to see someone else that would be happy with Crouch. Not going to rant over the reasons again I feel I made my point.
