I raised this point a few days ago, more to test the water of what we all thought and if/how he might fit in.
Without doubt his finishing would improve us....but his team play and what he would offer the team off the ball would be harmful.
I look at it in a purely footballing way. Berbatov at the time of leaving - I hated the coont, but with hindsight if you are offered way more many and greater chance of success you can hardly blame him, albeit he did it the wrong way, was the only way he would get his wish I guess - we did get a ridiculous amount of money for him too.
Think this raises the topic of how much we should admire Modric for not forcing the move in the Summer
He would be nothing more than what he is for United for us these days is my conclusion.
Anthony I dont think without Ades industry we would create as many clear opportunities and score as many goals, so I dont know if we would increase our finishing prowess.
His link up play is invaluable. Look at how ineffective and impotent we become where Super Pav comes on and his shit movement and touch of a rapist stops our forward play in its tracks before its began.
Berbatov wouldnt fit us now and IMO would be a step down from what Ade gives us.
I feel dirty for saying this....but I'd have him back! He's still got it imo.
United would never sell to us though if they could avoid it, we're big rivals with them know and it'd only strengthen us. Doubt Berba would come back either if he had the choice of Bayern.
Do we get a slice from sell on's???
Kaboul returned a better player...
everyone is talking about Ade like he is our player... don't get me wrong i think he's been brilliant and i would love him to sign for us but i doubt he will because he wants far too much money and when he goes at the end of the season we're back to square one and with no Crouch and probably (hopefully) no Pav we have 1 striker (defoe) who is tiny...
i'm just thinking of other possibilities that is all
I definitely agree that we need an impact player + a young prospect in striker position. I just dont want this big name to be Berbatov, that's all
I meant the big moves actually. Kaboul left as a very young player and he had a decent potential to fulfill. I believe he can be even better than he is now.
Are we still seriously talking about this guy coming back?
NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.
Steven Caulker is the messiah!
Hurts to say no to Berba because he is a magical player at times and you can't help enjoying watch the skills that he has but we have a lot to lose. If we were fighting to break into the top four at this point I would say he is worth the risk but our squad is ready to be added to for the future at this point, not for the short term. I could see Ade being unsettled by him, if we couldnt agree a deal for Ade this summer then I might reconsider.
