I believe that having no competition for your place in the squad is negative. With a hungry player (like Sandro if we get him) behind you working his ass of in training to take your place is healthy for everybody. It makes you sharper. I think we will see a more uppgraded version of Wilson next season. I hope so at least. The kid can still progress and is young, im just a bit worried someone will lure him to play somewhere else for CL footie.

Another relatively poor game for wilson. Don't get me wrong. I really like him. However his passing and positional awareness yesterday was awful. He doesn't seem to get his head up and check his options. Also his technique means it's easy to read where he is going to pass the ball way before he does it.

Why hasnt Arry and his merry men sorted this obvious problem, Willy cant pass water, so why is he allowed to try things he cant do?
      So frustrating

i would totally agree! there is nothing better than competition... easier said than done though. A world class or even a up coming yound international player will not be (and should not be) content to keep trying to dislodge someone in the team?! what if Wilson keeps playing well? great for THFC, great for Wilson... terrible for Sandro.. suppose that scenario went on for a whole season an Sandro only got League cup games, games when wilson was suspended and some sub appearances here and there? his stock would go down, his career would stall etc etc.... its the same when we have 4 top strikers, its impossible to keep them all happy.

Maybe this is another arguement for the 5 man midfield of say a 4-5-1.

The guy cant pass. All it takes is for one of those poor passes to give away possession and lead to a goal. He's absolutely fantastic at breaking up play and winning back possession, he's got a fantastic engine and chases players down all day long.
Trouble is, central midfielders need to be able to pass the ball. I know people say thats not his job in the team...but as a CM, it actually is, no matter what his role is he needs to be able to pass.

Now, as a defensive midfielder in a 4-5-1, we would have 2 players in central midfield who could actually pass that ball, with Wilson sitting just behind them, winning back possession and keeping it simple...which he could do a lot easier, as one of the CM's could drop in and offer him the simple option once we get it back.

Unfortunatly we dont have a striker who could play on his own effectively.

I hope harry recognises this as a problem and addresses it. If Tony parks instructed gomes on how to catch a ball. Surely we have someone who can get palacios to pass a ball.

His passes never look positive. Always a weak girly kick that often get's intercepted.

As for yesterday I think we lacked the "edge" that we"ve shown in recent games which was due to the friendlies in midweek and how deep Fulham defended in conditions that didnt suit.
      I agree with this...

For some reason wilson can do no wrong in most peoples eyes on here... I'll admit his first half a season he was immence and I expected him to kick on which he hasn't. He needs to be our Makalale. sit deep win the ball and play pass sideways or backwards no longer than 10 yards and his jobis done.

I think his problem is he rates himself as a footballer and sitting there watching Hud and even Daws pinging 50 yard balls on to someones toe makes him want to do the same and the truth is he cant.

I could have put my foot through the TV against Utd watching him lose the ball time and time again and I think the fact that we did so well without him says it all..... my patiance with him is beggining to grow thin and I do wonder how long this can do no wrong tag can go on.

It's not the passing after breaking up play that pisses me off.

It's when we are fizzing the ball around really well in true tottenham fashion. The ball comes to him and he duff's it to the striker of the other team and we have to leg it back and defend.

It just seem's like he is killing our momentum at times.

I think in the CL he would get slaughtered.

He is great at breaking up the play but his distribution would ruin any chances against a real quality side who thrive on posisseion.

I would swap him for Mascerano in a heart beat as his distribution is much much better.

Where is the stats man when you need him, lol.

Masherano is 1st for tackles completed and 2nd in overall passing with 2016 completed and 83% completion rate. That would be a good trade unit

However he also has 8 yellows and 2 reds.

      Back to wilson!

I really think this is something that should be sorted on the training ground. Give him a few hours with the Hudd
