Great performance today. Although I think losing Parker really hurt them in the middle and we ended up overrunning their midfield.
I think Modric looked excellent, especially as it was his first start since coming back from a break injury. Shows how much we've missed him.
Huddlestone looked really good in there. However, I'm not sold on him just because of one good performance. It was probably about 10 games since his last good performance, so he was due this one. I'm not knocking the guys game today, but we all know that the main problem is that he isnt consistant, so I'll be hoping he can take this into the next game.
Modric is back!!!!!!!!!!!!1 YAY
PS: I can finally eat my gingerbreads![]()
I just want to say a Big happy birthday to the hudd today and well done mate.
His had alot of people getting on his back time and time again on here and it will probably carry on. But today the Hudd can put two fingers up to them cos his display was Excellent in everyway. His game has improved 10 fold and people forget his only 23 today so he will get better.
His only missed 1 EPL game this year and that was at Blackburn the other day and we are 4th so he must of done something right.
I hope he continues to play as i think his great....
Oh tommy tommy, tommy tommy tommy tommy huddlestone....
My favourite spurs player!
Hate to have to correct you mate, but he missed the Fulham game, not the Blackburn game - and we really missed him at Craven Cottage, which in some way just makes what you are saying more true!![]()
At the start of the season, I was against Thudd, but he has won me round, but I still feel Huddlestone and Palacios need that other player that can step in and do just as good a job.
Roscono3 (28-12-2009)
Was a very solid performance all around. We should have put it away much earlier but i'll take the three points any way they come.
Gomes- Wasn't tested a whole lot but youve gotta be happy with another clean sheet.
Corluka- Charlie gave the ball away once or twice but this was his best game going forward of the season IMO. He got himself in dangerous areas and even made a couple nice runs on the ball. Defensively, solid as ever. Should have scored that wide open header.
Dawson- Just did what he's been doing since he's taken a place in the starting 11. Solid is the best word to describe it
King- Love seeing Ledley back there and playing like he normally does. He and Daws are our best pairing back there. Would like to see Bassong get a run at LB with BAE being gone.
BAE- A few of my West Ham supporting friends indicated this would be where they would try to attack as they viewed BAE as a weakness in the squad. Well he did his normal work today on defense. It's hard to say Benoit is a weakness anymore, he's just played too many good games to say that. His crosses weren't great today, though.
Lennon- Electric as usual. West Ham were consistently doubling him yet he still found a way to make himself dangerous. His pace is untouchable and he's putting dangerous ball after dangerous ball into the box.
Palacios- He bossed the midfield in typical Wilson fashion. Made some nice tackles and even showed good pace going forward. That run up the right side was brilliant and Crouch should have put that one away that Wilson crossed.
Huddlestone- Best player on the field today IMO. Great passes, solid tackles, and got into dangerous areas. He's got to learn to get the chances he does have on goal. I also am not sure how i feel about him taking corners when Modric is on the field.
Modric- Outstanding to see him score on his return to the starting lineup. Possessed well and distributed at appropriate times. Aside from the goal, nothing to flashy. Just did a good job of keeping our attack calm and organized.
Defoe- Incredible strike on his goal. That thing was hit ridiculously hard. JD didn't look great in the first half but his goal was huge as it looked like West Spam might find an equalizer late.
Crouch- Meh...thats the word that described his performance today. Did his normal Crouch stuff and should have finished that one from Wilson. Still would rather see him in there than Keane any day.
Great three points. GET THE FOOK IN....The Top 4.
COYS!
Defoe should score a goal a game or at least every other game like we need him too . 5 against Wigan and the Hat-trick are flattering his goalscoring this season . He hit the target today but after the deadlock was broken .
I want him to go to the world cup but he will have to stop fluffing his lines . He had a very visible verbal arguement with BAE , after being accused of asking for the ball in a certain place and not running there once it was delivered . I have to say BAE was pinpoint perfect with his pass - which made me think Defoe was argueing to cover his mistake . Their defender was p!ssing himself laughing at Defoe too , which was why the arguement carried on .
Actually I saved gingerbreads until Tottenham won a game. I made them on Saturday morning and wanted to eat them in the afternoon but damn Fulham didn't make it possible
Sorry for OT, I will never do it again.
King is back and Modric is back, I can't be happier. And a goal is the most suitable welcome-gift by Modric. Oh, I love that boy!
You will have sweet dreams tonight then = enjoy
haha I just found this video on my phone;
YouTube - YID ARMY! After Spurs West Ham (28/12/09)
theres more police than west ham andd.. i think they got a bit pissed off when i was putting the cam in their faces.
good solid result yesterday, we won yesterday because they were hit with a double whammy in the 11th minute, their gameplan was unfolded when luka scored as they were playing 5 across the midfield in order to stop us scoring, an early goal totally fcuked up their gameplan, then parker had to go off with a hamstring problem, their most influential player and midfield general was off
after that the floodgates should've opened but they didn't, WHU worked their socks off and we didn't have a clear cut chance the rest of the half apart from a few half chances, crouchie's chance at the near post was unlucky and my dad thought he should've scored, i disagree, it was blocked by tomkins otherwise green would've done well to stop it
going in at HT there was always a fear that they would come back into it and nick a point, in typical spurs fashion we didn't kill them off early in the game and they put us through the mangle as per usual, we had a few good chances in the second half, charlie should've scored with that header while green was off his line, huddlestone was unlucky when he hit the post, but sometimes selfishness got in our way, like when lennon ran with the ball to the edge of the box in a central position, he shot when he could've played in crouchie who was on the penalty spot with the keeper to beat
west ham didn't create much but you always thought a sucker punch was coming, we kept giving the ball away but i suppose the extra man in their midfield made it difficult to get slick passing going, huddlestone had a good and bad first half and then a brilliant second half, he bossed the midfield and worked box to box which was pleasing to see, but i honestly thought palacios was MOM, he was back to his best, he won tackles and bombed forward in one move in the 1st half which nearly led to a goal, he didn't try to do anything fancy and realised what he was good at, which is winning balls in the midfield
but our nerves were settled when that man defoe smashed home with 8 minutes to go, he barely got into the game the whole match but when he got a chance he buried it, which is the sign of a top drawer striker, when his first shot came back to him i knew it was going one of two places, in the top corner or onto the paxton road, thankfully it was the first one and he smashed home a brilliant half volley into the top corner, he really put his boot through it which is what he is good at and no keeper in the world would've saved it, it was great to see the wee man go and celebrate with the fans, which is a rare sight for a spurs player, even though it was a booking it was great to see he really cares about us the fans, after the goal there was no way back for them and another 3 points were added to the tally and we ended the noughties on a high
we are now in 4th and it is up to villa to react tonight at villa park against the bindippers!!
