How do you assess the first few games of this season?

Well, I'm quite pleased with our start. I'd have been happier if we could have taken a few more points from 'The Big Four', but apart from our defeat at Stoke and the non-event that was our Carling Cup exit on Tuesday, I'd say we've performed pretty well.

      Who's impressed so far?

Jermain Defoe has been in sensational form. And Niko Kranjcar seems to have had new life injected in to him, since his arrival at White Hart Lane.

Your assessment of the 2008/09 season?

Expectation was high and on paper, things looked good. But football isn't played on paper, as we discovered to our cost. Harry came in and saved the day, with some good man-management and some crucial signings (the key one being Palacious).

      Biggest loss to the squad?

Right now, I'd say Luka Modric. Of course, he'll be back soon enough and (hopefully) will be the same player as he was before his injury. I also regret our decision to loan Jamie O'Hara out to Portsmouth. Personally, I've always rated him and feel that he could have played a part in our midfield combination, were he here.

Your best signing of the summer?

Undoubtably, the 6ft 1" hunk of skill, vision and gorgeousness that is Niko Kranjcar. Bargain of the season! Thanks, Pompey!

      Who's got something to prove?

For me, it's Jermaine Jenas. And he not only needs to prove it to me but also to Fabio Capello, if he has any notion of going to South Africa, this summer.

      Your likely tactics?

I hope we field the team that started against Villa, last Saturday and play 4-4-2, in the hope that Aaron Lennon and Niko will do what they do best.

Which Everton player do you fear?

Would have said Arteta (hope you get him back soon). Tim Cahill can also be a tricky customer.

      Predicted scoreline?

I HATE doing this prediction lark! 2-0 to us would be nice, though!

      Your predicted finish this season?

With everything firmly crossed, ........ fourth

A big game tomorrow. It's suprising when we talk about top 4 theres: us, Citeh, Villa & Liverpool. No mention of Everton though as they have had a crap start. With Everton playing so many games due to Europa League this could be a good opportunity. With Citeh and Villa both winning we need to do the same. I would stick with the same team we played against Villa because Kranjcar was good and we needed him against the manure. Everton have got a lot of injuries so hopefully we can get something from this.

If we get a good start i'll be confident, if not we could be playing for a point. Lets go to Goodison and get 3 points.

i'm hoping we play like this:

      GOMES

      CORLUKA DAWSON (C) BASSONG EKOTTO

      LENNON PALACIOS HUDDLESTONE KRANJCAR

      DEFOE CROUCH

SUBS: WALKER, HUTTON, BALE, JENAS, BENTLEY, PAVLYUCHENKO, KEANE

hopefully we play with width and give thudd the space to get his passing going, play JD off the last defender and crouchie dropping slightly off him but not too much so to give thudd space, drop him off to get the ball for him to flick on, not always hoofing it up to him, but mixing it up and giving it variation, JD needs to run off the last defender from crouchie's flicks, lennon needs to run at their full back and zip the ball in across the face quickely for jermain to tuck away, from the other side kranjcar needs to use his guile and skill to move about, do what modders does, tuck inside or hug the touchline, mix it up a bit, give him free rein, palacios needs to do what he does best, break up attacks, let hudd to all the fancy passing and just do three things the whole game, win the ball, pass it and drop back in to screen the back 4, if he gets tired we replace him with bale and get kranjcar to tuck inside, bale has a job to do, he needs to do what he did in the cc in midweek, bomb forward and cross the high ball in for crouch to get on the recieving end, he impressed me in midweek, i thought he done well coming forward, at the back daws needs to have a hard head, he will have a lot of work to do clearing in the air, bassong needs to cover in behind for any flicks on from cahill, gomes needs to keep his concentration, everton will bombard him with high balls into the box, he needs to be decisive, he needs to command his area and let his defenders know when he's comin for it

if we do this we will win by 2 or 3

How do you assess the first few games of this season?
Can't complain about anything so far this season. I think Spurs have been dangerous in the attacking third and, even despite injuries to all of King/Woodgate/Dawson, the back line hasnt been too shabby. It certainly is nice to be in the top four (even if it is early)

      Who's impressed so far?
Cant answer this questions without saying Defoe and Kranjcar, they have both been exceptional. The other guy who has particularly impressed me this season is Vedran Corluka. He's a great compliment to Lennon on the right, and is even more valuable given the piss poor performance of Hutton.

Your assessment of the 2008/09 season?
Obviously couldnt have been less happy with the way it started, but that start brought us Harry...so i guess I would call it a blessing in disguise.

      Biggest loss to the squad?
hmmmm....Well Luka Modric has been hurt so i'll say him. Also Keane, though he's still around it appears he finishing touch has been lost

Your best signing of the summer?
Kranjcar. What a steal he was from Pompey. The impact he's made has been significant, especially considering how little we paid for him. I also think Kyle Naughton will prove to be a great signing.

      Who's got something to prove?
Benoit Assou-Ekotto. He has come a long way to be our starting LB but he still has to prove that he is as useful in attack as he is in defense.

      Your likely tactics?
I hope Harry sticks with a standard 4-4-2 with the following lineup:

      Gomes
      Corluka, Dawson, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto
      Lennon, Huddlestone, Kranjcar, Bale
      Defoe, Crouch

I hope Gareth Bale gets a run. Wilson might be headin for a match on the bench given his recent performance, though that certainly wont last.

Which Everton player do you fear?
Saha. He's a dangerous goal scorer. Luckily the rest of the scary Everton players seem to be injured. Jagielka is especially solid.

      Predicted scoreline?
I'm going 2-1 to Spurs. I like Defoe and Kranjcar to score and Saha to grab a scrappy goal for Everton. Should be a good, tough match.

      Your predicted finish this season?

we would have got confidence from the win instead of self doubt, we would have been in semi final only threee games to play to win it. if you are glad we are out obviously you dont think our squad is good enough or dont want to dwell in the glory of winning the carling cup. Well in my eyes any trophy we win is a great acheivement and make theruskis and the manures realise they are not that far in front of us. what do manure think now when we play a strong side and they got weakened side and still beat us comfortable. Come on think about it winning brings the self belief your unbeatable, we need that self confidence and tunnel vision. do not fear anyone, and win and win and win get the winning mentalility into our players. We are so close lets not worry about there being 3 games more. COYS with all my heart. PRIDE AND PASSION. F**K THE GOONERS. live and die for the cause
