So after watching the game again. okay really from the 54th minute for all the goals and then both of Baletolli's cards (well one that was and the other the should have been) plus Defoe's close shot made me see a couple of things.
On both plays where City should have had someone sent off (Lescott and Baletolli) Webb was already looking in the other direction following the ball. I know before I was getting on him for not making what should have been obvious calls now it somewhat forgiven. I even watched that stomp multiple times just to watch what Webb was doing and the linesman. Webb clearly was looking toward the ball and away when the stomp on Parker occurred. However why wasn't the linesman seeing that or even got a glimps of it. The angle for the game showed that the linesman on the far side should have seen a very good view of it since they are trained to watch the ball in order to determine offsides.
As for the Lescott elbow of pain, I feel that with the amount of people that were around him it is forgiven to say that the linesman didn't see it. Hell even with an 45 degree angle view I couldn't see it when it happened live. However there were 3 City guys, plus Kaboul and 1 or 2 others that would have been in the view line of that linesman. It doesn't make it okay that either happened but it does make me feel a little better that Webb wasn't just a complete tool out on the field.
As for Defoe's close shot, watching the game up to that point it appears that right before Bale crosses it, Defoe starts cutting inside a little toward the middle of the net instead of running a straight line. Once he did this and the cross was coming in, he started moving back toward where he would have been when he made contact with the ball, arriving just late and pushing it wide by (my guess) 3 inches from the post. I am really convinced that had Defoe just kept running straight instead of making that small cut toward middle of the goal and then correction he would have been further up the field (maybe half a yard to 1 yard closer) and would have gotten a much cleaner strike of the ball and would have made it a goal.
However i still feel that the best possible play for Bale would have been a through ball when they were both about 25-30 yards from goal to send Defoe all alone on Hart instead of the cross. Hindsight is always 20/20 though eh? This game has to let our team know that they can play with anyone though since they were really that close of getting a 3-2 win up in ManCity ground.

@steelktm When I saw the Balotelli incident on the first replay I thought Webb was probably looking towards where the ball went and I can understand how you would miss Lescott's flail/punch in real time with all the players in a small area. I'm not sure I understand how it would not be worthy of at least a one or two game retrospective suspension though.
9 minutes or so.....I wish Gallas had knocked Nasri out in the tunnel!!
Gallas and Sir Les looked like they were going to go start cutting people at the end!!!
On a serious note, good to see Gallas and Sandro up there with the team despite being out injured, shows how much they are in for the cause.
Right at the end , I saw Nasri being marched into doping control , and also a Spurs player with a number 5 on his shirt .. Danny Rose ?

i dont want to watch that vid again, I am just prolonging the agony of Sunday!
I guess it must be Rose, as no other '5''s in our squad?
