It looks like Beckham could be out the world cup through injury. I really feel for the guy if it turns out to be correct.

David Beckham out of World Cup after Milan confirm England midfielder has torn his Achilles tendon | Mail Online

David Beckham's World Cup dream looked to be over suffered a suspected ruptured ankle ligament injury which threatens to end his England career.
The midfielder is almost certainly sidelined for the rest of the season after he pulled up with the problem midway through AC Milan's 1-0 Serie A win over Chievo and had to be carried off on a stretcher, with his hopes of playing in South Africa suffering a curel, earth-shattering blow.

Just saw that on motd torn achiles tendon which will pretty much put an end to his world cup hopes, pretty tough on the guy he deserved a final swansong!

You hate to see someone miss out due to injury, but I am not convinced that he should have been in the squad anyway.

Ugggg....this just means that there is a much greater chance that the fraud Theo will be there. Unlucky, England.

Beckham will still go, only now in he coaching staff. He is a massive presence for the team and distracts alot of media attention away from other players, hopefully allowing them to keep their heads on the game. I feel bad for the guy, had he gone you can garentee he would have given 200% every second he was on that pitch, plus i still think he is one of the best strikers of a ball in the game.

      too bad for beckham

      who will replace him?

SWP , Lennon, Walcott are all on board as well was beckham.

Now maybe bentley? I dont think its realistic tho.
Might as well just go with those 3 should be enough.

Too bad for the guy, glad he got to make his big appearance at Old Trafford before it happened.

I watch Milan a lot and I think Beckham could've contributed this summer on his current form. He's still the best crosser of the ball on the planet imo.

After every thing he's done to stay in the running for England, this is really sad news.

I would look at Ashley Young myself. Lennon running down the right with Young on the left would put an awful lot of pressure on any back 4.

It's sad, an absolute legend missing out on the chance to play in football's biggest event. It leaves a HUGE gap on the right - Milner can fit in, but if he goes down injured, England would lack the depth...lets hope Lennon returns ASAP...

Normally I would agree with this, however Young has been very, very quiet recently. I think even Villa fans would admit as much. It is almost as if he has taken a step back, if not this season then at least in the second half of it.

This makes Lennon's recovery that much more important for England. I like SWP, but I think he is better served to be on the bench. Furthermore, if Walcott plays a significant amount, England are in trouble. He is a very one dimensional player and aside from his pace doesn't offer all that much on a national stage. Good teams will be able to remove him from the game rather easily.

How can you say this with so much certainty. I just don't see how Capello can not take Beckham in some capacity (and by coaching staff i don't mean an active coaching member). A player with his personal and professional qualities must have a positive influence on the team, and provide some invaluable guidance for our younger/less internationally experienced players.
