Cameroon have excluded the vastly experienced Rigobert Song and Geremi from their squad to face Italy on March 3, but Paul Le Guen has recalled

Tottenham defenders Sebastien Bassong and Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

Song and Geremi both featured at the African Nations Cup as Cameroon lost to Egypt in the quarter-finals but they head a list of seven players to be axed by Le Guen with the World Cup fast approaching.
Bassong was not included in Le Guen's squad for the tournament in Angola while Assou-Ekotto was forced to withdraw through injury. However, both players will be present when Cameroon face the reigning world champions in an international friendly in Monaco.
Schalke's Joel Matip, who has a Cameroonian father and a German mother, is named in the squad after resolving his nationality issues while Astres FC of Douala's Abouna Ndzana and Mabouka Massoussi represent the Ghanaian domestic league.

Full Cameroon squad to face Italy:
Goalkeepers: Carlos Kameni (Espanyol), Hamidou Souleymanou (Kayserispor).

Defenders: Sebastien Bassong (Tottenham), Henri Bedimo (Lens), Nicolas Nkoulou (Monaco), Mabouka Massoussi (Astres FC of Douala), Abouna Ndzana (Astres FC of Douala), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Tottenham), Dany Nounkeu (Toulouse).

      Midfielders: Jean II Ma
koun (Lyon), Stephane Mbia (Marseille), Joel Matip (Schalke), Eyong Enoh (Ajax), Alexandre Song (Arsenal), George Mandjeck ( Kaiserslautern), Achille Emana (Real Betis), Landry Nguemo (Celtic).

Forwards: Dorge Kouemaha (Clubb Brugge), Somen Tchoyi (Red Bull Salzburg), Pierre Webo (Mallorca), Samuel Eto'o (Inter Milan), Idrissou Mohamadou (SC Freiburg).

Hope both BAE and Bassong make it to the WC, love seeing Spurs players perform for their national teams.
