Tottenham Hotspur: Star arrives for talks
Dec 4 2009
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is set to land Switzerland World Cup keeper Eldin Jakupovic as competition for Heurelho Gomes.
Jakupovic, a strapping 6ft 4in shot-stopper, has arrived at White Hart Lane for talks and training after a major fall-out with Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow, who will let him go on loan with a view to a £1million deal.
The 25-year-old wants to come to Spurs and fight for a place to boost his hopes to go to South Africa with the Swiss squad next summer.
Jakupovic was born in Bosnia but fled the country during the wars and took up Swiss citizenship. He appeared for his new homeland in their first three qualifying matches but has dropped out of the team.
Now Redknapp is set to sign Jakupovic in January and put him into his plans when the window opens. He does not need a work permit because of his dual nationality.
Jakupovic has had a miserable time at club level after a dispute with Lokomotiv officials. He was loaned to Grasshoppers Zurich but is back with the Russians.
However Lokomotiv now want to move him out permanently and are willing to put him in the Spurs shop window but with the likelihood that he will join full-time.
Redknapp wants to find a keeper to put Gomes on his toes and replace injured Carlo Cudicini as he goes for the Champions League.

I dunno, looks like he suffers from FHS (Flappy Hands Syndrome) early in the vid, quite a few that should/could've been caught are pawed away. That said tho, some of the saves are pretty good... I especially liked the save with the face![]()
We need prem proven quality
Tim howard springs to mind or even Arrys old mate at Pompey.
