There are some reports that we are now leading the chase to sign Ivory Coasts young striker Seydou Doumbia.
At just 21 his stats are highly impressive, despite not really having actually played much football. He recently got his 4th senior international call-up for the Ivory Coast in their friendly against Germany & he scored within 2 minutes of coming on!
He is playing for Young Boys in Switzerland where he is starting to really make a name for himself & the fact that his physique & style would see him suited to the English game means he is gaining increased interest from the Premier League.
If Pava leaves this guy could be an excellent replacement. Young, willing to learn & won't rock the boat, big, powerful, quick & can score goals as well as create.
Check these stats out:
Swiss League: Top scorer with 17 goals in 15 appearances
All competitions: 24 goals in 23 appearances (including the Europa League winner over Athletic Bilbao, proving he can do it on the big stage)
In his 1st season in Switzerland he scored an incredible 20 League goals in 32 games, incredible because he only started 8 of them!! That proves he can have an impact from the bench (which, let's be honest, is what will be expected of him here at Spurs).
Doumbia also clocked up 10 assists in his 1st season with Young Boys.
Spurs plot £10m swoop for Doumbia

Could be an interesting solution if you ask me. £10m sounds a little bit too much, but I doubt it will actually be anything like that amount in the end. Liverpool are also supposed to be interested

Yep ive read that he is being closely watched by Harry here is a link to Topspur News website it has the article and stats www.topspur.info
He looks fookin mustard in that clip bass but it is a masive step up to do it in our league as you well know.
Arry loves an unknown african and he fits the mould.
If he has the same physicality and pace of drogba then he is half way there. His touch and awareness he will learn and improve on but his physical attributes cant be trained that much.
yeah, it is a big step up, you're right Unit.
However, every time he has had to "step up" so far, he has excelled. He has been scoring in the Europa League & scoring against Germany is no walk in the park either, even if it was a friendly
It's his strength that impresses me, which would mean he should settle to our style fairly quickly. He gets that ball in the penalty area & the defenders just hit the floor trying to get it off him!!
Not sure about that blonde barnet tho!

I hope Pavs replacement will be a youngster with potential and judging by the clips this guy will be an ideal candidate so hoping that the rumours are true. Not long to go until the window opens...

Chelski were linked with a bid about two weeks ago .... Chelsea chasing Young Boys star Seydou Doumbia | Premiership News | tribalfootball.com with the Drogba connection would think he would go there. If we do sign him he will be away for most of January at the African Cup of Nations.
“Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.”
Yes, yes and a masssssive yes!!
This guy has been brilliant! He would be an extra option up top, due to his height AND pace. Defoe playing off him would be a incredible.
He's not that tall, that's the only thing. I thought he was taller than he is as he scores quite a few headers, but apparently he is only 5'10".
Pava is over 6ft, so if he left & Doumbia arrived we'd have 3 smaller strikers & 1 extra tall 1! lol
However, Doumbia plays like he is 10ft tall. Very strong, quick & powerful but very skilful also
Both Doumbia's agent & Young Boys themselves are saying that there is no way he'll leave Switzerland before the WC this summer anyway & they've already rebuffed some 'big' offers, so I don't think we'll be seeing him arrive this January

i dont think we need him because we have gds
Ye give GDS a run of games why buy a new stricker when we got a perfectly good one here?
He Looks a class act hopefully if we can get him he will be able to step up and show his class in the premiership
Looks good to me. So he will partner Drogba then in the WC? That pairing could produce some goals.
I doubt he will choose us as Utd, Liverpool, AC Milan, Barca and a host of other clubs have scouted him but i think if we have the slightest chance we should go all out for this lad. He looks like a beast of a player.
