Ipswich Town's 16 year old striker is apparentley intersting "the big four" with ourselves and Villa also intersted, the lad is a prodigy, great reports from all ipswich fans i know, and definitely the type of young Enlish player who would do well at spurs, he has been described as the next wayne rooney, i would love to see him come to us.

Remember seeing him early this season on his full debut, was very impressed by him.
The lads about 6ft 3, and very strong and tenacious, with a good amount of talent to go with it! I dont know how far he will go... but he is definately worth a good look

Sign him up, and then give him back to Ipswich for the next season, with the clause that he comes back when our Spurs XI team play.

He is deffo a talent. However, how many times have we seen young talent coming from the championship with the "next big thing" sign hanging around their necks & chased by the big four, we have a few at our club even.

Let me throw some names in, all of whom received the "next superstar" tag whilst still in their teens:

Alan Smith, Francis Jeffers, Ritchie Humphreys, Jermaine Pennant, Michael Bridges, Michael Ball . . .

there are SO many examples of these sorts of players who are tipped for greatness & get nowhere near it.

I've seen Wickham a few times & he has looked very good & full of confidence for a 16 year old. Do I think he will be the next big thing? No, I actually think that we already have better players in our own youth team already.

Most who hit the big time tend to do so via hard work applied after their teens. There are certainly many, many more examples of players who do not make it.

Yes this kid has skill & yes he is only 16, but the next Wayne Rooney? Give me a break. He has done well in a few games in the Championship whereas Wayne Rooney was running the show in both the Premiership & in the Euros for England whilst he was still just a teenager.

Generally, the problem is not whether a player is skillful or not at that age, its whether his attitude is right & he can keep his feet on the ground. However, if this boy went to United, or even us, would he walk straight into our 1st XI? Not a chance! Would Wayne Rooney at 16? Easily

Ipswich are 2nd bottom of the Championship. I know 1 player does not make a team but a 16 year old Wayne Rooney playing in the Championship would've won games on his own. If the kid really ws as good as people think, Ipswich would not be 2nd bottom & they DEFINITELY would've won more than just 1 game in 16! He's not even scored a league goal yet!!

I dont think Rooney would have walked into spurs or united teams at 16, he was on fringes at everton, and wickham has not been used too much by keane, i look at their (ipswich) list of potentially good players coming through over the last 5-10 years and none have fullfilled their potential, so i believe it would be better for wickham to aid his progress by being at another club like us who have a recent history for helping nurture of young english potential.

OK, he might not have 'walked' into the 1st team at 16, but at 17 he would've & his infamous goal against the Scum he scored whilst still only 16.

Wickham has not been used too much by Keane but if he cannot get into a team that are at the bottom end of the Championship how can people claim him to be the next Rooney? OK, Wayne might not have been playing every week but at least he was in contention for a team doing very well in the Premiership &, when he did get his chances, he scored, & a f-ing screamer at that.

Wickham is a decent young player, nothing more, & I stand by my claim that I believe that we already have better players coming thru our youth set-up (Harry Kane & Kudus have loads of potential)

In the few youtube clips i've seen of Kudus he does look a real potential star, occasional heavy touch but i think we've got a real gem there

most of the sunday papers mentioned that us along with a couple of other teams are after him as he is yet to sign a professional contract.

Why dont we blood these youngsters early once the game is in the bag . Even to give em a taster . Just 5 mins of a youngster doing the business can do their confidence the world of good . I know it can put them back if it goes wrong - but if they are on fire in training then just hearing "take your boots with you = you might just get 5 minutes tonight - would set the lads mind working to get him going in the right direction .

I hear Ipswich have an "agreement" with Wickham to sign a profesional contract with them when he turns 17.
