Tottenham chase Watford's £3m Scott Loach as crash victim Carlo Cudicini replacement

Harry Redknapp is eyeing a January move for England Under 21 goalkeeper Scott Loach as a replacement for Carlo Cudicini.

The Spurs keeper was last week hospitalised after suffering a motorcycle accident and although Redknapp said the Italian was 'doing well' after visiting the Italian in hospital yesterday, the ex-Chelsea stopper may not play again this season.
Watford value Loach, 21, at £3million. He has played 16 times for Watford this season and has become a key man for England during their qualifying campaign for the European Under 21 Championships.
With Cudicini sidelined, veteran former West Ham goalkeeper Jimmy Walker and youngster David Button are the current understudies to Heurelho Gomes, whose recent form has been excellent.

Redknapp is keen to secure competition for Gomes with Cudicini likely to be on crutches for 12 weeks after injuring both wrists and his pelvis in his road accident

Spurs look to land Scott Loach to solve keeper crisis

Tottenham are considering a move for England Under-21 goalkeeper Scott Loach in January following Carlo Cudicini's motorcycle accident.Loach has played 16 times for Watford this season and has become a key man for England during their qualifying campaign for the European Under-21 Championships.
Watford value the 21-year-old at £3million, while Harry Redknapp is keen to secure competition for Heurelho Gomes as Cudicini may not play again this season.
The Spurs boss visited Cudicini in hospital yesterday, and although Redknapp said the Italian was “doing well”, the former Chelsea goalkeeper is likely to be on crutches for 12 weeks after injuring both wrists and his pelvis in a road accident last week.
With Cudicini sidelined, veteran former West Ham goalkeeper Jimmy Walker and youngster David Button are the current understudies to Gomes, whose recent form has been excellent.
Spurs have the chance to renew their interest in Ruud Van Nistelrooy after the Real Madrid striker admitted he will try to leave in the transfer window unless he plays more often.
In the summer Redknapp tried to buy the former Manchester United forward, who said: “I want to play. If I have no minutes, I would have a reason to leave in January

Just found an update on the Scott Loach situation:

Harry Redknapp is set to renew his interest in Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach this month as he seeks to sign quality back-up for Heurelho Gomes.
The Tottenham boss has been linked with England internationals David James and Ben Foster but claimed yesterday he was in the market only for a No2 keeper, rather than an established star.
Watford value England Under-21 international Loach at £2million and he comes highly recommended by Spurs goalkeeping coach Tony Parks, who has watched the 21-year-old on numerous occasions this season.

I'v seen him in some dreadful displays for the England under 21s and Watford but anyone can have a bad few games so I if we got him I'd like him to stay at Watford with an option to recall him so he can keep improving.

Just to let u no Scott Loach had a fantastic game against Blackpool despite conceding 3 goals.

I just watched it on 'The Football League Show' and his saves were impressive. they even analysed him and proved y the top teams are lookin at him - Tottenham

Would be very pleased if we signed him.

Why don't we just loan a reserve goalie until Cuducini comes back?

Yeah obviously but it doesn't make sense to have three premiership quality keepers all wanting to play. Cudicini is a class goalie who could become a first team goalie at a majority of PL clubs. Loach is an aspiring mid-table PL goalie.

What am I saying that Loach doesn't stand a chance at furthering his career when/if cudicini comes back. He'll be 3rd in the pecking order. Let's be honest if he is playing first team for a Championship side now being 3rd choice for a PL is probably a step down or at least a step to the side.

Because Carlo's contract expires at the end of this season - I think he has played his last game for Spurs. Its a bit sad really, but I think we will be better off with Loach in the long-run

Apparently this will be a loa deal until the end of the season, with the option of making it permanent in the summer

EDIT: Watford have rejected our offer according to SSN! Woopee-do!

Why the f*ck r we tryin to loan him?

Just sign him on a permament deal for £4 million.

      Make that £3 million:

Sky Sports sources understand that Watford have rejected Tottenham's bid for goalkeeper Scott Loach.
Spurs are believed to have tabled a loan deal for England Under-21 shot-stopper Loach with a view to a £2million transfer in the summer but the Hornets have instantly rebuffed the Premier League side's offer.
The Championship club are not keen on loaning out one of their prized assets and sources at Vicarage Road are suggesting that Spurs would have to pay in excess of £3million to land the highly-rated goalkeeper.
Harry Redknapp has been in the market for an understudy for regular No.1 Heurelho Gomes throughout the transfer window but heavy links to Portsmouth duo David James and Asmir Begovic have yet to bear fruit.
