Apparently, reports in Mexico are of the opinion that Spurs are leading the race for the 28 year old Chilean striker. It is believed that Suazo will move on in January & Harry has supposedly had him scouted repeatedly as a replacement for Pavlyuchenko.
Suazo is a good striker, altho he is unproven outside of South/Central America. However, the area has provided numerous talent in recent seasons, none moreso than our own Wilson Palacios, and Suazo has reproduced his club form on the international stage too, scoring against the likes of Brazil.
Chile have successfully qualified for WC2010 after the finished in 2nd place in the South American qualifying group & Suazo was one of their consistent performers.

I like the look of this guy. I've seen & heard a bit about him recently & he sounds as tho he would be a real find for whoever gets him. However, I can't see us replacing Pav with him as the article suggests, they are nothing alike.
Suazo is described as the Chilean Wayne Rooney, mainly because of his build, his ability to "play in the hole", his work-rate & physical style despite his short stature.
As such, I would imagine that, if we are scouting him, it would be as a possible replacement for Robbie Keane. Personally, the way Robbie has played recently, I would take a chance on this Suazo guy. Were he a little bit younger, with the WC coming up, I would say go for him 100% as his worth is bound to skyrocket. However, that scenario is unlikely given the fact he is already 28.
He is a Spurs type player tho, & he knows how to score spectacular goals!

I watched it all earlier bassk , but i got a distraction and forgot to reply . The guy looks to have a good build and hits them from everywhere on the pitch . Would this guy want to come is the only "?" in my head . But if i was Harry i would take a chance . The meer fact that he muscles past players will be a big shock to a lot of EPL backs .
I have to agree with Bassk and Kev, this guy looks like a no nonsense type of player who would love the pace and phsyical side to our game, if Arry is watching him and likes what he sees then perhaps he could be coming our way

if he was that good he would come to europe earlier
That's not true at all.
There are all sorts of reasons he isn't in Europe, from injuries that prevented him performing on the big stage to contract/ownership issues and plenty others. It is a well known fact that the lesser South American & Central American leagues are an untapped resource of talent & we know that Harry is aware of that because he recently said so. Suazo has been scouted by plenty of big European clubs many times & has come close to sealing his dream move but the deals have never quite come off, but that's got nothing to do with him not being good enough & more because of red tape & administration
Wilson is proof that players from these leagues are good enough & you only have to look at Suazo's International record, along with the international sides he's scored against (3 goals against Brazil) to see he is no flash in the pan.

I keep looking at the vids of this guy and if he can pass the acid test and convince HR then I reckon the guy can be massive for us, the spurs fans will love him for he is the type of player we all love down the lane.....by the way anyone seen HR at Heathrow heading for Mexico for a few days break?

That goal against Brazil is a bit special, innit! I mean, there are plenty great goals in those vids but to pull off that chip against a team like Brazil is different class. Dare I say, Hoddle-esque? No, perhaps not quite that good but still sublime finishing!

Well, we know Ian Broomfield is out in that neck of the woods (because he has been scouting Sandro in Brazil which, I know, is not that near Mexico but still) & we know that Harry is seeking to follow Steve Bruce's example by scouting these sorts of South American leagues because he recently spoke of how much talent lay hidden out there.
Last window we got one of Wilson's Honduran mates over for a trial, so we are definitely interested in that region & there were reports that we were chasing Paolo da Silva, who ended up with Steve Bruce at Sunderland. However, there is a suspicion that Bruce is also looking at Suazo & it would not surprise me at all as Suazo is the most expensive player from Chile. Sunderland will have the cash also, so they might end up being his most likely destination. I really hope not because, whether I want him here at Spurs or not, I really don't want Steve Bruce (who has really irritated me with his recent Gomes outbursts) turning up another bargain discovery!

We are edging towards a 4-4-1-1 formation with a diamond pronged attack.
This lad if he plays in the whole is exactly what we need to link up with JD.
Crouchy will continue to do what he does as a target man for JD and another front man.
Keano is finished IMO so he doesn't come into the equation anymore.
I don't know enough about the lad to comment but he sounds like the type of player we need in that little hole linking play.
I will agree with comments however that if he was all that is reported he would have been playing in a better league a good while ago. I don't buy all this the circumstances wernt right bollox.
We need to get busy in Jan to stake our claim in the upper echelon of the league.
He's had the offers, but either chose to stay in S. America, got injured or there were problems with paperwork on each occasion. English clubs don't like this 3rd party ownership business that they have in S. America which is the main reason we don't bother scouting there. However, he had offers from Marseille & some from Spain last season but he rejected the move in order to prove himself at Monterrey. Prior to his move to Monterrey he got an offer on the table from Serie A but his club took the Mexican offer, the biggest in Chile's history.
Newcastle were trying to get him for ages but the 3rd party ownership was a sticking point. I believe that's been bought out now by Monterrey & as such a whole host of European clubs are showing interest again, most notably Sunderland.
Any player who has such a good international record is good enough to play in Europe. His record is just as good as Peter Crouch's for England except he's done against big teams like Ecuador, Colombia & Brazil.
If he had made the trip to the last WC with Chile then he would have been playing in Europe LONG ago, except he got badly injured & had to mis out. He's going this time tho & this guy will be 1 to watch, I'm sure of it.

I agree that about Keane.
Keane has had plenty of time to get his form back since returning from Liverpool and he hasnt, and I dont think ever will.
I'd welcome Suazo as a replacement for Robbie. Robbie isnt doing anything and I'd much rather we gave dos Santos or Pav or go instead of Keane because he is bringing nothing to the team anoymore.
If we got rid of Keane, and bought in Suazo we'd have Defoe, Crouch, Pav (or Jan replacement) and Suazo. I'd be very happy with that, even if Suazo is a gamble.
I think if we were to play a 4-4-1-1 based formation, then we need a top-class established player in the hole. My first choice would be Van der Vaart, if we can get him. I think he'd fit that role perfectly. Also D'Alessandro's name has been batted about recently. He'd work too.
Or we could buy an out-and-out left winger and play Modric there, which I think is his postion of choice.
Only reservation I'd have is that I'm not sure Defoe, or any of our strikers have the all round game to play up there alone.
