Stephen Appiah has just been unveiled as the new signing for Serie A side Bologna. Did we miss a trick here? Could Appiah have been that experienced back up to Wilson we all know we need? He would've been free too. I know he had injury problems but I can't help feeling our indecision has cost us. It will be interesting to see just how well he does at Bologna & see what exactly we've missed out on:
Appiah's back!
King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard
with a nick-nack paddywhack he'll be getting goals
when Lampard's too fat & old

weren't you the one that was talking in another post though about Spurs signing or keeping people with a track record of injuries? this to me would fall right into that now wouldn't it?
actually that was Unit making that stating, sorry for accusing you Bass

His wage demands were daft if I remember rightly.
Was I? I don't think I was saying that. I don't have a problem with us signing players with dodgy track records so long as we can be as confident as we can be that they are fit, I don't have a worry. Look at Woodgate. Nobody would touch him but he has been superb since coming to Spurs. Yes he's been injured this season, but his overall record whilst with us has been no worse than any other player & we have a great defender out of it.
EDIT: sorry, just noticed you'd edited your post!
That was the rumour, but how true it was we'll never know. I can't imagine either Rubin Kazan (where he went on trial after us) or Bologna were prepared to pay him any more than we were. I think the issue was over his injury & we were stalling, I don't believe we ever offered him anything (at least, that's what Appiah has said), & he gave up waiting. There must've been an issue with his fitness at the time tho, otherwise Rubin would've surely taken him, & I think that, once we got Wilson, we figured we would not need Appiah.
However, I'm now thinking that we could well have done with both &, with Wilson starting, Appiah would've had the time to get to full fitness. We are now looking for a backup for Wilson anyway & this time we'll have to pay well for one, whereas we could've got an International captain with tons of experience for free!

I think the reason we didn't sign him was lack of fitness.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
I think he is living near bologna anyway, so it makes sense for him
we had a good look at him and walked away-... im ok with that
we have one player that is always injured and can only play every two or three games we dont need another one
couldn't we buy him from bologna if he proved himself with them from now til january?
Would we want to though? The only reason we was interested before was because he was on a free. If we're going to buy someone then there are better options out there. I'm sure 'Arrys already got a good idea of what he wants the squad to look like at the end of Jan. I hope Levy backs him up with the money he needs and we can get a few players in who really want success, maybe they can put some fire in the belly's of a few of the lazy boys in the squad.
i think we did miss out, we wouldn't have been playing for juve if he wasnt up to stratch was he
