Tottenham are understood to have made a £3.5million bid to sign Manchester City winger Martin Petrov. Spurs had been interested in the Bulgaria international for a few seasons but lost out to City in 2007 after not being able to offer him the same wages.
He is believed to be on £70,000 a week but is now only a fringe member of the squad at Eastlands following their mass spending in the transfer market.
Harry Redknapp sees Petrov as providing good width on the left flank and signing him would give the Spurs manager the option of moving Luka Modric into a more central role.
City are prepared to do business but will probably hold out for a higher fee before the window closes on Tuesday.

i highly rate Petrov and i would love him at the lane.
As a Bulgarian i would love him to sign for Tottenham Hotspur. He is not young but is still quick and has a "never die" attitude.
He is very good on set pieces, too.

Yeah Petrov would be a great signing. Surely we could get him on the cheap as well, seeing as he must be unhappy at City.
in a way i see him as one of those players who always should have been in a spurs shirt. seems to fit the bill perfectly. now we have a completely different squad though; built around luka, i'm not sure we'd be the first choice destination for him; as he wouldn't be the first choice for us. if he comes i'd welcome him though!
great player, sure why not...
yes its starting to make sense with the jamie to pompy loan move.we all suspect arry had something up his sleeve.petrov would be a great signing,as long as we keep him injury free, i think he would become a yid in no time
I think Petrov wuldnt be too expensive as Citeh arnt exactly tryin to recoup money.
I wuld pay £4 - £6 million for Petrov.

Really depends though if the are trying to recoup. It's not as if the club is being run sensibly at the moment. Cases in point paying £16 million for Nigel de Jong in the last year of his contract when the club said afterwards that he was available for £7 million and secondly paying £22 million for Lescott making him the third most expensive defender of all time.
He isn't really that good is he? Certainly not as good as Woodgate! Don't tell Sparky; he's in for a nasty shock!
I think i'd be happy if we paid anything up to £6m for him, he'd be quality for us IF he can remain fit

Clever moves from Arry to just loan Big O to get some games and learn his trade and get a decent bid in for this propper wide left player to switch and change with Modders.
This Arry fella knows his stuff dont he!!!
