I was watching Spurs against Liverpool the other day, one of the first live games I saw for about three years now. Before you slam me, let me explain that my love for the club extended past the decade, suffering with my many fellow readers on this forum through the days of Christian Gross and George Graham, where the sole highlight for many good years remains with a diving header from within the 6 yard box by the one Allan Nielsen.
I was reading the news like a good boy the other day, skipping past many global issues till I saw an article about how Matias Fernandez moved from Villarreal to Sporting Lisbon for 3.5m Eur!! I enjoyed Modric on the left hand side as much as the next bloke, but I thought a natural left sided/central midfielder with youth on his side might have been a bit of a good buy!
I was rather gutted at the loss of such a potential star, I mean how bad can the deal be if its only 3.5m Eur?! Comparing that with darren bent at 16m pounds was it?
Having said that, I thought dos santos deal was great but he never plays for us it seems. So we knows.
He's quality on football manager. Never seen him play though.
fernandez is an amazing player. can't believe that villareal let him go for that!

Are you saying you'd prefer this guy to Modric playing out on the left, if so I tink ya bonkers! I agree a top left midfielder would b a good purchase but if it means Modders on the bench no thanks.
Oh no no, I meant Modric on the left is brilliant, but someone young at that price would be a good buy as well. Coming in as a second option if someone in the middle got injured, switching modric to center midfield.
Modric was brilliant at liverpool I thought, he held the ball well, great passing etc. Complete player I think, I am not worried about him hitting a bad patch, rather worried about him leaving for Man Utd or something.
You mean like Gio or Bale . . .
I agree with you there contrast, i REALLY think bale could change all of our opinions on him when he plays left mid... much more suited position for him and i think he could be top class there
exactly; without defensive responsibility and with the comfort of knowing there is wilson/hudd/ our back four and cudicini behind him to mop up any mistakes; we could see bale unleash his true potential. i think it's a bit too obvious now that harry could miss it. expect him to get an impressive cup run and sploradic appearances this season. big things coming from bale.(as usual..)

Exactly... i will be bamboozled if Bale doesnt get as much as a good chance at left mid. What always let him down was his defending, but he is a good passer, good crosser, can run at players and is quick. And has a mean free kick and delivery. Im very much so looking forward to what he can do at left wing.
The only thing that worries me is his knees... seems to have Ledley King Syndrome.
