Aston Villa move for David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas as Spurs look to fund deal for Celtic's Scott Brown
I can see Bentley going, that drink drive car crash thing was the last straw for me. Jenas is a bit too soft in midfield compared to Palacios. I wouldn't mind getting Scott Brown as a replacement for Jenas.
Whether this will happen with 2 weeks of the transfer window left is up to Harry at the end of the day.
Some strong hints something like this will happen with the SSN article today.
Would be great to get Scott Brown in for Jenas, I used to 1% rate him and thought people might have been a bit harsh...but then I watched our pre-season game vs Hull, I know it was pre-season and the fitness is lower etc, etc, but I've never seen a performance so bad in a long time, every pass mis-placed, every shot wide, no tackling. Loved him for his performances against Arsenal but think it's better for everyone if he goes.
With Petrov, he is a very decent player but I'm loving Modric on the left and unless Petrov is ready to come in and start from the bench, and then work his way in through form/injuries/suspensions, I'd rather not.

Nothings Forgotten, Nothing is ever forgotten
After the start they had Villa will need new signings, pretty sure 'arry has a replacement or two lined up (depends how Celtic get on tonight for one) so this could be happening pretty soon ....
Bentley and Jenas out and Scott Brown in would be great IMO. We would be able to have Tom Huddlestone in the middle with Palacios with Brown ready to come in off the bench or to give one a breather when we have multiple games in a week, such as this week. I would love to see Celtic beat Arsenal, but if they did I don't think we would be able to get a hold of Brown this transfer window.
I don't know that much about Scott Brown.
Could someone tell me a bit about him?
He will be playing tonight for Celtic against the scum so you could watch him there.
I would prefer to pay a bit more and do a deal for the hugly talented sissoko.
If Bentley goes what happens if Lennon is injured?
If we sell Bentley then we should be looking to bring in some kind of cover.
If i remember rightly do when Lennon was injured for a few weeks last season Bentley didnt even play other than a sub apperance in the last game of the season, not to sure who he put there. I suppose Modric could play there and Rose or Bale on the left.
I cant se us offloading Bently tbh, but JJ is a posibility.
We have squad depth now and to ruin that now would be folly. I aint seen much of the scottish lad but I am sceptical as not many of them actually make the grade unless they have been down here as a youth.
Sissoko for me too.
Would it be wise for us to help Villa or Everton strengthen their team. I dont think so!!!
Oh and lets not forget they wont go anywhee on the cheap, Levy wont have it.
I agree with you Unit don't think Bentley is going anywhere. JJ may well go if it finances a deal for Brown or Sissoko.
Not sure about the suggestion that selling Jenas to Villa or Everton will strengthen them though? Lets be honest he is ****. Villa would get 4 good games out of him, against Wolves and Birmingham, whilst Everton fans would only see him perform against Liverpool....
I think Jenas is the more likely to go BUT if a really good offer came in for Bentley then i think we MITE consider it. I would love to see Sissoko or Brown rather than Jenas.
P.S Bentely is my most hated player at Spurs as Darren Bent has gone![]()
"Modric could play in any team in the world in my opinion, he's a fantastic footballer, top, top class."
Numerous papers are saying that O'Neil is willing to push up a little his bid for Bentley to get some "quality" into his squad as soon as possile and they have sent in a bid for both players...
Think you all know what I think about Bentley...But Jenas aswell, I'm not sure about that?!
Any thoughts on seeing both of them against us in the futur on the same team???
Coooome oooon yoooou spuuuurs, cooome ooon yooou spuuurs.
If Jenas goes thats great business. He may perform under someone else but he just doesn't cut it for us. 1 good game in 10 is not enough. As for Bentley, well most people think he can come good, but after his drink driving thing I'm not sure if he has a future at the club anymore. Regarding the supposed 'strength in depth' these two give us, if it allows us to go and get someone like Scott Brown then I'm all for it.
