For my fellow American's around here, you might be interested to know that Jozy seems to be headed to Hull. Details are sketchy as to whether it is a loan or a transfer, but either way I hope he gets some playing time. The US really needs him to get on form for the WC next year.
Not sure if he will be able to cut it or not in the EPL. He is tough in the box, but his ability to hold up play and his comfort on the ball need to improve.
US striker Jozy Altidore says he is joining Premier League Hull - Soccer - SI.com
He is still very young and has lots of time to improve. We definitely need him on top of his game for the World Cup, but I think he'll get first team time at Hull. He's one of my favorite players in the world, so I wish him all the best.
ESPN is reporting that it's a year-long loan deal.

Yeah, he's apparently been 'tweeting' to all & sundry about the move & obviously appears very excited. I don't think he'll get himself in any trouble as he has been much more respectful than a certain other 'tweeter', but it is still funny to hear about a transfer inn such a way.
Apparently, both Hull & Villareal had been quite quiet about proceedings but Jozy let everyone know what was going on by posting of his excitement that he would be flying to England early in the morning. He then said that he had arrived at a 'very rainy airport' & later teased everyone by, without actually revealing who he had signed for, saying that his first game would be against Chelsea (Hull kick-off their season against the Chavs).
King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!

when Lampard's too fat & old

looked promising but not quite there yet in the confeds cup earlier this summer, but must admit all I knew about him before that was that he was good in FM09 lol
TOTTENHAM 'TIL I DIE!
Great story about his use of Twitter- very typical of an exuberant, excited kid. If I was about to join a PL side, I'd be tweeting like crazy too...
I really hope this comes off for Jozy. He is a good, smart kid and a raw talent that probably should have come over some years ago tbh, i.e. getting in somebody's youth system rather than playing MLS. He really joined Villareal at the wrong time, and was probably in over his head anyway.
US Spurs Fan's assessment is right on, he's going to have to get better on the ball to be effective in the PL, especially his first touch. But he certainly has the physical tools, and the attitude to be successful. One of the good guys.
Itnis better tht this is a loan deal because if hull get relegated he wont be another american tht gets relegated in england. Back in january everton tried to buy him from villareal so thr fact tht moyes wanted him speaks to the lads potential. He is the u.s.'s best attacking prospect. I think his game is suited well to the premier league as he is big strong posses bags of pace and is good in the air. He has the tools to become a top player and he has shown recent glimpses of this in the confed cup and in world cup quLifying ex. He scored a hat trick a while back.
His touch, ability to hold up the ball and general link up play have room for improvement but as stated he is only 19 and can learn all of this in due time. I hope he is in te first eleven at hull not only
because he is american but bc he is an exciting talent for us to watch week in and week out in the premiership.
Last year in te first half, before he was loaned to xeréz he played spRingly for villareal but towards the end he was starting to ge a game and by all accounts was very impressive. He then was loaned to xerez and reagrivated a long standing toe injury which then prompted him to need surgery. Now he is fi and raring to go lookin to build on his sucess at the confederations cup.
Hopeully he can push on and reall shine.
I hope this sheds some light on jozy. I would wright more but my chicken parmesan has just arrived and im starvig!![]()
Here is a little more info on it, a loan with an option for Hull to make it permanent.
Jozy Altidore will need time to adapt to Hull, Premier League - Soccer - SI.com
I am very interested to see what he can do.
great move for Jozy and I hope he can impress at hull city

I thought he'd do well at Villareal, heard him raved about a lot (same as Freddy Adu as well, but aparently that wasn't so much in the states).
Hull may be a good move for him... but with naff all else upfront and chasing players like Darrly Murphy and Bobby Zamora... there may end up with pressure on the lad to score! Hope he does well, but not too well as i want Hull to go down for some reason.
What a great signing for them!!
Almost as good as Sunderland getting Cana!!
He's more of an out and out striker than Adu, and seems to have a little better head on his shoulders. He is also built like a freight train, where Adu is definitely not.
Seems unfair since he's so young, and this is after all a loan deal, but I kinda think its a make or break season for Jozy.
If he does the business at Hull, I could see him making the leap to an upper-tier premiership club. If not, well who knows...I'm rooting for him, even if his playing well might contribute to more TV time for the always irritating Phil Brown
